So, I kinda got addicted to this one Pac-Man mobile game called Pac Man 256, and guess what? It's actually made by Namco! Well, for that reason, there's some abilities I'd like to share.
First off, there's the Laser. I'm not sure whether to use it as an actual laser or not, as Pac Man has FTL reactions. (plan to calculate the timeframe.) That's just simple energy manipulation. Optics is an upgrade that allows the Laser to turn 90 degrees once
There's the Freeze (and by extension Shatter) ablilities that grant ice/cold manipulation. It slows all movement to a nigh-halt except for Pac Man. And this isn't just for the enemies on screen. As you continue going up, the approaching enemies are also frozen. And since it's a survival game, it goes on infinitely (presumably). Freeze is more useful than Shatter in VSBattles, as it last longer (14 secs as opposed to 10). Though Shatter summons stalagmites. Not sure how that could be implemented.
Bomb is up next. It turns Pac Man into a weapon that explodes on contact with a massive radius for 10 seconds, and automatically blows up after the 10 seconds. However, if touched, the weapon goes off immediately, and the 10 seconds are automatically up. However, there's an upgrade in Boom. The radius in touching an enemy is smaller, but it doesn't make the powerup run out, and once the 10 seconds are up, then it explodes normally. Don't know how to classify it though as an ability.
Giant is self-explanatory. Size manipulation for 10 seconds.
Tornado summons a tornado that chases enemies for 10 seconds. Weather manipulation or air manipulation both fit this. There's also Twinado, which summons 2.
Stealth grants invisibility and intagibility for 14 seconds.
Fire lets Pac Man catch on fire. Not only that, but the place he was standing (we'll call them tiles) he is on ignites. And even after the 10 seconds are up, the tiles stay ignited for a little while. There's also Pyro, which has the ignited tiles spread the ignition on. Fire Manipulation, by the way.
Trap creates invisible one-use spike traps that are randomly placed on the map. I don't know how to categorize that.
Next up is Magnet. It creates an aura around Pac Man attracts coins, fruits, and pac-dots for 14 seconds. Though we could logically write that off as Game Mechanics and give him Magnetism for that. Regen is an upgrade, but is virtually useless in VS Battles, as it just replenishes the drawn items as soon as they're eaten.
Pac Men summons little Pac Men that hunt down ghosts and Kamikaze them. The Pac Men can also multiply. So this one is cloning. Lasts for 10 seconds
Radar creates a blade that rotates around Pac Man in a radar-like fashion. The wiki doesn't give a time.
Cherries turns ghosts into cherries. Undisclosed time, and transmutation.
There's 3 more that I could find no information about aside from their names, being Sonar, Electric, and Beam. I think that Sonar is an upgrade to Radar, but I'm not sure. What I can be sure of is that Electric is obviously gonna grant electricity manipulation.
Finally, Pac-Man can release omnidirectional beams that destroy ghosts after collecting 256 pellets. The 256 pellets could be written off as game mechanics too. But would probably require a cooldown time.
