Nasuverse Revision: Reality Marble Edition

Greetings, everyone. Today I'll be talking about one of the Nasuverse's most infamous pieces of high-concept shenanigans: The Reality Marbles. Thanks to a fellow debator off-site, I was able to compile a list of quotes detailing the nature of Reality Marbles and how they apply to servants. This shouldn't be a very major revision, thankfully.

What are Reality Marbles?

In layman's terms, a Reality Marble is a pocket dimension that forms over the world when the user activates it. In reality, it's a bit more complex. From Fate/Complete Material III:

“A Reality Marble is magic that actualizes the internal landscape of oneself. If it's activated, the surrounding space is changed to a completely different landscape.

The actualization of the internal landscape will be explained by the magical theory, "World Egg" shown in the figures to the bottom left.

That is, the Reality Marble is the result of switching the Self and the World while keeping the boundary the same. At this time, the size of the Self and the World is switched, and the World is enclosed in a little container. This little World is the World egg and the name of the theory."

From these statements and the included diagram, we can infer a few different aspects of Reality Marbles.

• Subjective Reality: Reality Marbles are one's mental landscape that is projected onto the world, replacing the world and the "Self".
• Size Manipulation: Reality Marbles activate by switching the sizes of the world and the mental landscape, turning the world into a tiny container while replacing the reality marble with the size of the world.
• Sealing: The activation of Reality Marbles is stated to "Enclose the world within a small container".

Additionally, Reality marbles have to be maintained, as they will be crushed by the world without a large supply of Prana. From Tsukihime Dokuhon PlusPeriod:

"Of course, if anything that isn't an extension of nature like an elemental creates an alien world, the world itself will crush it. As a result, the upkeep of a reality marble requires a vast amount of energy, and most individuals are only capable of using one for a few minutes at a time."

This would give Reality Marbles themselves resistance to the same abilities, notably Sealing and Subjective Reality as they can forcibly maintain the marble against the world putting the marble back into its own "self" container. Though for certain servants, this can be bypassed (In the Moon Cell, Playable Archer can overwrite EMIYA's UBW with his own UBW)

So what does this mean?

This would serve as a nice range update for characters. However, due to the varying range of reality marbles, it's difficult to exactly quantify it. Reality marbles are described as "World-Altering Grand Sorcery" and are stated to approach the level of true magic.

"In addition, reality marbles, the sorcery that overwrites reality with the caster’s internal landscape, is also thought to be a skill that approaches the miracle of True Magic. Although temporary, there are not too many magi who are able to execute this World-altering grand sorcery."

I believe that this, coupled with the world egg theory, should make the minimum range of Reality Marbles Planetary. This is a somewhat conservative lowball, but we have seen reality marbles from even lesser mages that have range far beyond a simple planet.

• Iskandar's Ionian Hetairoi is able to recreate the sun
• Archer's Unlimited Blade Works is described within Complete Material as an "endless" field containing countless blades, and at the very least contains a sun
• Solomon's Ars Paulina contains a starry sky within it
• Vincent Van Gogh's De Sterrenacht contains a Starry Sky within it

Conclusions

With all of this in mind, characters that have Reality Marbles should have Subjective Reality and Spatial Manipulation added to their profile, and receive an update to their range stat that reads "At least Planetary with [Reality Marble Name] (Can overwrite the world with their reality marble)", with servants bearing a confirmed size such as Iskandar and Vincent receiving a proper range that goes with it.

You could probably argue 5-B servants but honestly I'm not even gonna try discussing scaling stats for this unless it's accepted first because that is a can of worms I do not want to open

I agree with the hax upgrades, not really so much on the range thing, as its unlikely they are affecting the entire World at once for various reasons, chief among them is the fact that the quote also explicitly says that "the surrounding space is changed to a completely different landscape." when if it was the entire World, it would affect much more than the surrounding space. World Altering also doesn't tend to mean it has the range to affect the entire World at once, moreso that it messes with some fundamental part of it, like concepts or such, or in this case, the local parts of it.

Wouldn't servants with a larger reality marble size still get the range upgrades? I don't remember if we put pocket dimension sizes as range feats on this site or not

This. It would also explain why nobody else can get caught inside. You can see this pretty clearly with how Ionian Hetaroi only has a certain range to it. (Can't find the clip rn but it's the one where he catches the squid dude inside)

Neutral on range, but leaning on agree. More so if they only have that range inside the Reality Marble.

For the range it could be that it only change the surrounding space of the world but the reality warble still have his own space who is better in range, i mean pretty sure that Salem show a thing like that

I recall times where people used NPs that create black holes as supporting evidence for the Reality Marbles upgrading the AP of the verse. Return of that era will be entertaining.

Anyways, the most you can get from the size of the Reality Marble is Environmental Destruction, and that is a stretch. Unless about everyone in the planet was dragged into it, it shouldn't get a planetary range.

Spatial Manipulation sounds more accurate than Size Manipulation. If the theory was literal, I don't see how Iskander can drag a giant cthulu monster with him.
BFR is more accurate than Sealing. Sealing would work if Reality Marble users can go "Welcome to my Reality Marble! Now I'mma leave and forget you exist".

The sealing isn't on the people, and it doesn't really fit with BFR. The user seals the world itself, not the people they put into the reality marble. It's quite literally the opposite of BFR, as you're not pulling someone into a place, you're pushing a place onto someone.

The range is more for the range of the inside of reality marble than the range of reality marble in the world
