How does Lavos' BFR work?

There's only been one instance in which BFR has even worked on 682 for an extended period of time, and thats when a long and complicated ritual was used to banish 682 to the Ravelwoods, a higher-dimensional plane where the only way to escape is via a Way, which is already a rare thing in the Ravelwoods but 682 is barred from using Ways, and the magic of the Ravelwoods both runs parallel to and against the magic of the Library, making escape by any other means virtually impossible. 682 escaped anyways.
