Annoyingly I slept through most of this thread, while it doesn’t matter now since the thread was accepted anyway I’m just gonna list some characters who either implicitly or explicitly aren’t up to interpretation:
  • Ghosts are genderless by default but have been shown to start using gendered pronouns once they find their ideal forms, as seen with both Mettaton and Mad Mew Mew being referred to as they/them like Napstablook before finding their ideal bodies.
  • Seam’s design heavily resembles that of a scruffy old bearded man, and also has a name that’s a play on the masculine name “Sean”, yet despite this is only every referred to with either neutral or no pronouns. Due to presenting so masculine, it would make no sense for them to be intended to be gender ambiguous.
  • From Chapter 5, Seth is only ever referred to with gender neutral pronouns. On top of that, there’s a scene in the café where it’s suggested that Seth doesn’t know what their gender is, and the other flowers encourage them to figure out whatever best works for them. This makes them either genderless, non-binary, or genderfluid, but either way means that their gender isn’t meant to be up to player choice.
  • Also from Chapter 5, Green is kind of like Seam in that they’re usually only ever referred to with gender-neutral pronouns despite having a somewhat more feminine appearance (long hair and eyelashes). On top of that though, when Yellow says that “she” (Orange) works hard to make Orange Juice, Ralsei assumes he’s referring to the chef (Green) implying that Green actually uses She/They pronouns. If that’s the case, or even if just because Ralsei assumed they were girl because of their appearance, then the they/them pronouns for Green can’t be to say they’re gender ambiguous.
All this to say that a character having they/them pronouns can mean a lot of things in this series, and it’s all depending on context. In Kris’ case:
  • They’re explicitly not the player and are their own person separate from us, so it makes little sense for us to be allowed to imprint a gender on them. Frisk and Chara being vaguely player inserts is the main argument for their gender being up to interpretation, which further supports the idea that Kris’ gender isn’t.
  • They’re human, so likely aren’t just naturally genderless or something.
  • They’re never considered a girl by Cap’n, despite him having unique dialogue for Susie based on her being a girl (he doesn’t use this dialogue for Ralsei either despite him being the most feminine of the trio, showing it’s based on gender rather than appearance).
  • The closet in their dark world room repeatedly hammers in that Kris can wear “whatever [they] want”.
  • Mancountry goes out of its way to say “it’s a man’s world” but that “non-men are A-OK too”, and Kris is the only character to appear in Mancountry that isn’t either confirmed or likely male (as no Rudinn in the game so far has been referred to as “she”, only “he” or “it”).
To me the only viable option is non-binary. Genderfluid is the only other semi-logical option, however considering both the Cap’n dialogue and the fact that Kris is only ever referred to with they/them, genderfluid makes little sense as well.

Completely agree with this, also I can't understand Omegabronic's point at all, Agender is part of the Nonbinary's umbrella, and there's already a character in the site that's confirmed to be Agender and still classified as Nonbinary here:

Not talking about the tag, was talking about the text written in the page, which is "Agender" not "Nonbinary"
