Asterix is one of the most popular Franco-Belgian comic in the world, Asterix is the one who represent the comic.

Well, if being popular in a country is enought for that tag, then I guess it´s fine.

Hello.
You probably don't know Astérix because you're American or in a country where the serie isn't commercialized. As a french, I just wanted to say that saying that "being popular in a country" is a bit of an understatement concerning Asterix. Globally, Asterix is known is several European countries. He can be considered as iconic because he's for franco belgian comic what Son Goku is for manga or Superman for american comics.

If we watch at numbers, there are 365 millions Asterix volums (which are stand alones) sold overall (this number is 230 millions for Dragon Ball), 10 animated movies, and 4 live action movies.

It's no big deal, it just surpise me that anglophonic public seems to REALLY not know Asterix. :)

We have removed the entire iconic characters category from all pages.
