This reasoning fails because Jamie is 7 years old in Halloween 4, meaning Laurie was still alive for at least 3 years after Halloween 2, and yet Michael was unable to get up and go kill her.
 
For the novels its not. The fire creates a pressure wave but there's no explosion. The house itself is still standing multiple minutes later as the townsfolk group around to watch it burn while Michael escapes.
They literally say it’s a “earthshaking explosion”
 
This reasoning fails because Jamie is 7 years old in Halloween 4, meaning Laurie was still alive for at least 3 years after Halloween 2, and yet Michael was unable to get up and go kill her.
The same argument also works against the Thorn demon reviving him. Why didn’t it wake him within those 3 years? Or even in the original film where he only breaks out at age 21 instead of offing Laurie the same night as Judith or some time in between.
