Steven also has enough experience against Gems to figure out that madoka's soul gem is her weak point

Steven's shield would also protect him from White Light of Salvation considering it was able to protect Rose, Garnet, and Pearl f4om the Diamond's Corrupting light which is basically the exact same thing except bigger and corrupting instead of purifying
