Look into our Eyes (Itachi vs Basilisk)

So I'm just gonna go and put my thoughts:

Itachi mindhaxes Basilisk with Sharingan Genjutsu, but gets turned into stone himself by Basilisk.

So Incon

Is there no way to determine who goes first? Itachi has Shunshin which is a blitz level speed amp iirc. And he can cast Genjutsu with simple hand gestures. I’d give him the edge if they don’t start off by looking at each other. By SBA, they should start off 4 kilometers apart.

Itachi's Genjutsu would be undone once he's turned to stone, so Basilisk would win in the end.

Can he really look at Itachi while trapped in an illusion without knowing?

These techniques should give Itachi first move.
  • Ephemeral ("Itachi's one-finger Genjutsu"): A genjutsu that Itachi can use without making eye contact, instead of using as little as pointing at his opponent. Once inside the illusion, he can control the visions the ninja sees. This illusion can also be used to play on the target's fears.
  • Dusk Crow: This genjutsu can trap a victim in an illusion with no eye contact, similar to Ephemeral. The genjutsu traps the victim in a torrent of crows, leaving them at the user's mercy.
