Iirc Goku's blessed only prevents him from dying before adulthood, and the Riolu is going to go for K.O in character.

I'm inclined to Riolu due to it sheer versatility when it comes to ways his techniques would avoid Goku's hits and in the same time lower his stats

Having saying that, what prevents Goku from copying Riolu techniques and utilizing those in an even more versatile way?

While Goku could probably copy fighting-type moves, I'm not so sure about moves that use elements like Force Palm and Vacuum Wave.

I don't think that copying those techniques specifically would make that much of an difference considering the important would to be copy those that changes stats

Anyways, I think that while Riolu starts with the advantage Goku would eventually have the upper hand not only due to copying the adversary but also considering the higher skill (In this point of the story he is already among the best martial artists on the planet) And the bigger AP amp (The 21st Budōkai tier is already stronger than his 0.744 tons self, being able to amp that whit ki manipulation, accelerated development and possibly even more copying Riolu techniques).
