Light Novel and Manga/Anime

I've a problem, well, in a Light Novel, if a characters have a "supperior" feat which it isn't present in the anime/manga, how to evaluate the character? use the anime / manga feat that are different from the Light Novel such that the feat is much better than what is shown in the anime / manga?
 
Depend of what's the original.

If the manga/anime is just an adaptation, the feats of the Light Novel are the one to used.
