He beat Mecha Sonic MK. II while he was in his normal form, he couldn't do anything to his Super form though and just decides to stall until he detransforms and gets some hits in.
Super Mecha Sonic MK. II has invulnerability as an advantage but since they have almost equal stats, it's going to be a close battle until he detransforms

So only for a few seconds, as per Super Mecha's weaknesses. 'Cause Knux will blitz and destroy Mecha the moment he reverts to base. Nothing stops Knux from playing it like he did as his Classic self

The reason why he's so weak is that Mecha Sonic can barely keep up the form for a few seconds before powering down, so this is why Knuckles won. Had he could sustain the form he could win
