Well, dunno Killua but he seems to be a hard counter for Gaara with his lightning. If I'm remembering correctly, lightning turns sand into glass or some kind of material so Gaara's sand is probably useless here or at least neutralized to an extent. This means both Gaara's offence and defense are severely limited, and at this stage he didn't show any advanced tactical acumen or anything like that, and his Wind Release should be pretty weak.

I'd say Killua takes this with his natural advantage due to their powers, afterimages which should help in trolling Gaara especially since his absolute defence might not be so absolute, paralysis, pain tolerance and seemingly much better intelligence.

Well, if Gaara transforms into Shukaku, he would probably win.

No, not necessarily the lightning of Killua will do what you mention. Gaara has already faced characters whose attacks are based on lightning like Ranke and this wasn't a rival that gave Gaara too much trouble. Lightning strikes affect the sand because of the heat they produce, Gaara sand has been resisted by high temperature attacks such as the Amaterasu so Gaara sand has not been shown to be affected by electricity in the Fourth War it was observed to its sand to be combined with a attack of water and lightning without problems.

The other would be the counterweight, even if it were the case not only to be able to generate electricity/lightning and you have to earn them what amount of rays Killua can generate to counter the Gaara's Sand Tsunami that is able to bury large portions of a forest? He would have to produce too much in case I am asked and I don't remember that Killua can do it. In defense, attack and variety I see Gaara more balanced.

Yes more specifically in chapters 464 where Gaara blocks the Amaterasu of Sasuke and in chapter 588 where it combines its sand with the attack of water and lightning of the Mizukage and Raikage. Killua's electricity is not an intrinsic advantage in this combat.

His stealth mastery, illusion creation, usage of claws to surpass greater durabilities, resistance to electricity manipulation, capacity to sense vital energy while hiding his own... all that does, though.

Killua lands the first attack and kills. If he doesn't, Illusion Creation does the trick. If it doesn't, his wits and the fact he has closened the range at the beginning of the battle via stealth mastery allow him to guide the fight where he wants and win.

Sorry if this is a necro, but it's not outdated and can be added.

Killua Zoldyck — 2 (Jesterofgames and Mand21)

Gaara — 1 (Dariel Senju)

GOt money on Gaara as his range is way higher, sand is a counter to lightning, has a great defeance which can be used as a offense. Has a eye made out of sand which can watch the area while he is in his sand ball and can attack from underground and gaara has sand clones. ALso Gaara is a master at stealth.

Both are masters of stealth, but only Killua has presence-hiding stuff. Since the maximum initial distance is 4 kilometers and in Central Park Gaara shouldn't be able to immediately spot Killua, the stealthiest one should attack first. The battle should begin with an attack from Killua at Killua's range.

Gaara was able to hide his pressence from sasuke and sasuke stated that gaara feet were as silent as Kakash's feet. Also all ninja should be able to hide their presence naturally.

So can every single Hunter, but these can also hide the presence of their attacks. What does Gaara have against stuff like In?

gaara can feel a opponents presence by spreading his sand throughout the battlefield while controlling it. he can also hinder somones movenment using his sand

And as you may know, he has a limited amount of sand to use, and this is the Central Park. Plus, it will take some time for him to cover everything.

no he doesnt lmao Gaara can turn the dirt in the ground into sand did you not know that. Gaara has enough sand to cover intire forests lol

All the posts are pretty old, so I don't really like doing this but...

Killua is comparable to 145 tons.

Gaara is likely above 405 tons.

Gaara's sand is very resistant to heat based attacks. Whether it is chidori, some kind of fire jutsu, or even Amaterasu...his sand has never been turned into glass.

And this is assuming the match is 8-B vs. 8-B and then they transform and become 8-A

There is the deal of skill and intellect, though. Killua has repeatedly shown ability to vastly outsmart cunning opponents which are also so stronger than him that he struggles to even damage them at all, and has beaten or at least got an edge on multiple David vs Goliath fights, while Gaara at this point seemed to be still quite reliant on his sand protecting him, as shown with his fight against Lee. He isn't even Sasuke's level, just "fairly creative at applying his sand", and, damn, if that's an issue of creativity then literally every single hunter worth any more than crap is on par with or superior to Gaara in terms of intellect, and let's barely talk about how Killua totally shat on a member of a trio of villains who manipulated what, a few hundreds or thousands of people who were above average even for hunters, in a game that taught you to be cunning and skilled in order to survive?

Gaara sand protects him automatically without him giving commands. First of all Gaara was going on Jounin level missions and completing them. That more than proves Gaara's intellect compared to Sasuke back then. Second any opponent that Killua actually outsmarted was actually weaker than him. This killua who is 8B still was afraid of fighting people comparable to him or stronger which causes him to run away. Gaara Killua does not have any chance at even getting close to gaara who uses his sand in the best defensive ways that can be used as offense. Since this is speed equal Gaara has a high chance of using his sand particles to bind his opponets movements since they cant see them as they are sand particles. Gaara can also use the dirt and sand in the ground to make more sand. You cant make this a battle of intellegence when gaara has lots of experience for his age completing A rank missions as a genin lol.

That's really not the case. Killua wasn't afraid of people because of their power. He was afraid of people he wasn't confident that he could win. You really need to rewatch the scenes related to Illumi's needles and Killua's previous fights if you have such a ridiculously serious misconception about his character.

Killua states that his normal attacks couldn't damage the bombers. Do you think he would have any will to fight if his motivation for evading an opponent was "Oh, he's stronger than me"? That's just one of his parameters. While he does evaluate someone by their aura output, he is not shy at all of fighting stronger opponents so long as he can seek a plan to victory, and he's actually happy the bomber isn't weaker than him because that allows him to toy with him for longer and test his new tricks.

Gaara's sand particles aren't getting through Killua's ken/ryu, and if they do, he's noticing them immediately since an aura user can feel and control their aura like it's part of their body (it's the principle behind En). Gon has been shown deflecting attacks with Ren when he had just learned it, so sand particles have really nothing on Killua.

What kinds of intelligence feats Gaara has? Because if we're really just speaking about "oh he did ranked missions", then goddamnit, Killua is a fourteen years old kid who became something one in a hundred thousand highly prepared adults can become, excelled at it with a talent of one in ten million people among those who get to use it in the first place and outsmarted a fuckton of adults who were considered above average for his group. He is so insanely talented he literally disregarded the need of experience in a feat of precise nen application that would have required both experience and talent to be accomplished. Gaara is more experienced? Killua ***** on that with wits and talent.

Are we talking about how many stuff Gaara did while young? Let's speak about how many assassinations Killua had already completed as a five years old — or at least how he at age eleven had already killed more people than a trio of hunters who were shown killing dozens or hundreds through thousands of people in the Greed Island arc — or as he got as high as anyone without nen could ever get in the martial arts old with eight years of age. His experience with fighting isn't just superior to Gaara's: it's overwhelming. I really don't see how you can argue in favor of Gaara being more intelligent — comparable is already a stretch — with everything Killua has done.

But at the end of the day, I'd disagree with even that: it doesn't matter how many times a character has fought or how many adults failed at what he did: what allows us to have an insight into the level of experience of a character is his feats of intellect, and in Narutoverse as a whole the levels of strategy showed up until that point are really not as impressive as the amount of reading into a person's trains of thought, knowing they will be cunning and set up powerful batman's gambits, and worse is the fact that as the series go on we get less of that and more of hax, so there really aren't many combat intelligence and experience feats you can say Gaara profits from or scales to.

But in Hunter x Hunter? We have Genthru instantly guess Gon's train of thought, what he's wary of, his plans and practically read into his mind out of sheer understanding of himself and others due to sheer massive combat experience, then we have Gon outsmart genthru and we know for a fact that Killua is smarter than him due to several showings, including defeating another one of the bombers with much greater ease. Narutoverse doesn't have this shit.

And we also must remember that the important thing about experience is not how long you've been in the job, but how many tricks you've learned from that experience and how many different things you have experienced. That's why Goku, regardless of being a fighter with decades of experience, isn't regarded as someone as experienced as, say, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, even though the latter doesn't have in age what Goku has in fighting experience.

So no, Gaara is not as smart as Killua.

Votes still at the same markers:

Killua Zoldyck — 6 (Unforgiven0815, Jesterofgames, Mand21, ZackMoon1234, Calaca Vs and Hagane no Saiyaji)

Gaara — 2 (Dariel Senju and AstralKing7)

Verse equalization often enough equalizes that. I don't know if Gaara has an aura output, though.
