Both are Low 1-A (John Egbert with his Retcon Powers VS Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet)

Both are in character and speed is equalized

I’m going to throw this out here really quick before people maybe start asking.

No, John does not start with his Retcon Powers right off the bat, he would probably start with his God Tier abilities (his wind powers and all that). Although maybe he will try to use them after being sealed, which I think Thanos starts with sealing? Or at least that’s what I have seen in other versus matches.

It’s 1-A in potency, as the Retcon Powers can affect the narrative of Homestuck (he also resists Lord English’s passives, who is 1 transcendence above baseline)

If it weren’t 1-A in potency, I think Thanos would stomp due to basic magic resistance (which includes plot manipulation)

Problem with this is.

John’s teleportation via the Retcon Powers should basically counter sealing altogether (unless it’s on the level of Caliborn’s juju which can overwrite powers and literally make it so you cannot escape)

John has resistances to Concept Manipulation (Type 1) Space-Time Manip as well as Information Manipulation (the IG doesn’t specify what type of Information Manip it is though), given all of these resistances are 1-A in potency (1 transcendence above baseline at that), I doubt those would work on him.

That’s true, he doesn’t. Given the justifications of it as well, I think it could be a solid win condition if Thanos decides to use it. How likely would be though is my question.

If Thanos isn't serious than probably not, but if he's serious then there's a fair chance he does that, probably after sealing is proven to not work on John
