Either way I'm pretty sure Itachi just bullies Sasori with his Genjutsu just like he did Deidara and probably will trip him up with an exploding Shadow Clone if he can't Genjutsu him through the Puppet Shell body, especially since he outscales Sasori anyways.

Sasori's eyes are non organic. The only organic part of him is the core. Itachi cannot GJ him. That's why this match is fun.

If Itachi even remotely tags Sasori with anything then he just explodes due to the stat difference since he's stronger than the Sakura who literally blew him to pieces by punching him and with all the insane diversion tactics and abilities he has then I doubt even the Iron Sand or 100 Puppets will save him.

Pretty sure itachi can just use ephemeral which doesn’t need eye contact in order to work

Itachi is more than nimble enough to dodge sasori similar to sakura as well as his ability to turn into crows and summon clones. He can also deal with the clones in mass via fire style

Personally I think genjutsu CAN still work but even if its not he still has this

There was a scan of Chiyo getting a mental buff while fighting Sasori, indicating that she was as strong as her prime form.

When he looks at Sakura, he sees Tsunade's spirit. We can think of this as her being similar to Tsunade in terms of power.

Itachi has the AP advantage against most of Sasori's puppets/Sasori himself, and has the speed/skill especially with the Sharingan to avoid attacks from the 3rd Kazekage, the only real problem being Iron Sand World Order which has a high density of attacks over a wide range, making simple reaction speed unlikely to be enough to fully dodge it. Maybe Itachi could substitute but meh. I think I vote incon for now, maybe slightly leaning Sasori, especially as he has the ability to one shot AP wise or with any scratch via poison. Though if genjutsu works that would be an easy gg for Itachi.

What do these two know about each other? Since this is obviously a same-verse fight.

It just looks like Sharingan is the general solution to everything that Sasori could throw at Itachi, really. Same with that IQ as far as cooking up a plan on-the-fly goes. Also I think it's far less dubious to assume that Genjutsu would work, given that nobody in-verse has been able to counteract it. Orochimaru's ass sure couldn't either, though, I guess that's besides the point. I just don't see how Sasori would be any different beyond having puppets. But I think it's safe to say that won't be viable for very long.

Yeah. Itachi reads his finger movements with Sharingan and eventually baits him into an Izanami loop to reform and give up using those finger movements as a base.

Izanagi (and to a lesser extent, clone substitution) also makes the oneshot less viable of an option for Sasori.
