Is this knocking over or destroying trees?

Question regarding this calculation

The statement will be posted below in text, as the original image is accessible in the calculation. Other details are in the calc.

"when I turned back, there was this empty...space, where the trees had been. Something had moved while my back was turned."

Regardless, here is the question. Is this knocking over or destroying trees? I just want to make sure. And if it is destroying trees, would it be fragmentation, violent fragmentation, or pulverization?
