Is Muken(Bleach) in a Seperate Dimension

is explain that muken is a dimensional space separated from SS

Ive heard it isnt because there is a gate, where they enter and leave from, so its still connected to Soul Society.

while the gate is not closed, when the door is closed is completely separated

basically the first levels are just like "normal" prisons

but the 8th level, muken is stated to be completely separated and being infinite in size

the chapters i dont remember specifically but the one where they talk bout muken is
