Invisible Notifications?

So I've been having an issue in which my little notification box will say, for example, that I have 6 new posts in threads, but when I mouse over it, I only see 3 or 4 and I've been having it for maybe a weekish? Sorry I don't have screenshots. I havent really thought about it.

Has anyone else been having this issue or know what's up?

EDIT: To clarirify, I'm pretty sure what's happening is it's telling me threads are being posted on, but then not telling me what threads.

This has been an issue for a while. Sometimes it helps to open everything in a new tab then hit mark aall as read, then reopen. Ofc once when I did it it gave me like 40 repressed nororications so
