If a spirit absorbs a living being, does that include soul absorption?

There's a certain feat for Discord that I've been looking at again, and I wanted to ask how feasible soul absorption is for this kind of thing.

Essentially Discord absorbs a pony whole. Magic, body, etc. It's likely soul as well, but I wanted to ask if there needed to be a direct statement that his spirit was also taken during this.
