Basically the title, how long does an afterimage stay in your retina before it disappears?

what is retina and for other just depends on ability itself, they usually last sub 1 second

I don't think there really is an accepted timeframe for afterimages. There's dozens of threads asking about them and the only value thing that seems to be accepted across them all is that it grants at least baseline subsonic speed.
Afterimages are mostly an illusion that tricks the eye, and how long it lasts is usually down to each individual authors interpretation.
