How do you calculate pushing and pulling planets?

I have work soon so I don’t have time to really search through threads that may have the formulas/methods, etc for this, but I want to ask so I don’t forget later.

Generally speaking and not for any specific verse in particular, how would you go about calculating the push and pull of planets?
 
Acording to DT if the objects being pulled or pushed hard enough to destroy them it would scale
 
Normal KE would do the job most likely. Mass*Speed²*0.5
 
Usually KE is the best option, but another method that could be relevant:
If it’s a slow movement started by a single short push or pull that moves it away from its star, you can calculate GPE by integrating GMm/d^2 from d0 to d1, where G is the gravitational constant, M is the mass of the star, m the mass of the planet, d the variable distance between the planet and star’s center of mass, d0 the starting distance, and d1 the ending distance.

Wouldn’t this require the planets to be near a star?

What the others said. KE is the simplest option there is.
