I like Hotline Miami. I like this wiki. The profiles are in need of some fixing. Connect the dots.

Individual Profiles

Jake: Simple profile, so there are only a few problems;

On his P&A, we have several superfluous powers, like "can use Nunchucks, sharpshooting", which both fall under weapon mastery. There's also "very good at making ambushes and killing", which probably goes under intelligence rather than here.

"Intelligence: Average" This undersells him just a little bit, given how he's one of two characters to canonically figure out 50 Blessings was behind the phone calls and did so entirely on his own. Not saying above average (especially given some of his rather... unique decisions when it came to how he used this knowledge), just something to note rather than having no description at all.

"Weaknesses: Insane, doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut or quit when the odds are against him." I am unsure as to how he can actually be construed as insane. He's violent and maybe low on common sense, but still perfectly capable of reason and logic. The closest he gets to insane is calling some guy a Russian when he probably wasn't. The second part of his weaknesses sorta make sense, but need reworking. He does in fact not know when to shut up, but quitting when the odds are against him doesn't seem like a weakness per say. He was sent on a suicide mission, but throughout the game he put his faith in the phone calls and had no reason to think this would be a particularly hard mission or anything like that.

Pig Butcher: Can we even have a profile for this dude? It's made pretty clear that he's not really killing people and it's all just a movie. He doesn't technically have any actual feats other than getting shot by his co star and earning the game a censored mode.
He also has the "
very good at making ambushes and killing" bit which still isn't a power. If it is allowed I don't have much else to say though.

Tony: Again, not much to say about this profile, he is just a strong guy with some spiked fists.
"
Standard Equipment: His Tiger mask and a combat vest." This should also include the aforementioned spiked knuckles.
"Lifting Strength: Unknown" While it is true he doesn't have any of the executions that involve LS, it stands to reason that as the one guy who can kill any enemy in the game with his fists that he'd at least be comparable if not stronger than the other characters. Maybe not class 50 like Jacket but still, there should be something like "Unknown, At Least Peak Human"
"Age: Unknown" Given how other characters are listed in their 20s-30s and we know that Tony is a veteran of war, it's reasonable to assume he's also around that age.

Manny Pardo: This article is fine other than the underlying speed issues present in all.

The Son: Another mostly good one, just needs some more meat on its bones. His profile should have a Notable Attacks/Techniques section for the three "Techniques" he has with Bodyguard, Bloodline, and Dirty Hands.
"Durability: Unknown (He died from falling off a skyscraper, but he hit the ground so hard that his body deformed)" IMO it should still be 9-B. If other characters can die from 9-B attacks and get the rating still why should he be any different?
"Weaknesses: Nothing notable other than being a severe drug addict" Perhaps add his rather impulsive nature, otherwise remove the "Nothing notable other than" bit. It's redundant.

Jacket: The big one. People actually talk about this character so he's better than the rest, but still has some problems.
For the P&A there should be a minor addendum to some of the powers, given that he can't wear multiple masks at once and they are therefore mutually exclusive.
"Speed: Subsonic (Capable of dodging gunfire to some degree, can run across a room and kill a gunman before they can react)" Although I agree with the rating, the second half of this is just wrong. If you try something like this, you will die. This will be apparent if you play a single level of the second game, but I digress. Also he doesn't have any reason to scale to beard in the later section of speed. They never fought or anything, they were just in the same military unit.
"
Note: The masks may not count as equipment since he canonically used a chicken mask aka “Richard”, the tiger mask aka "Tony" and the pig mask "Aubrey". " This note seems rather strange. While yes, we do know he used these specific masks in canon, it seems much easier to just list the masks as optional equipment. He had them, we don't know 100% if he used all of them, and that's it.

Character Speed:
This one may be slightly more divisive, which is why I put it after all the easy to agree on stuff. The supersonic+ speed rating seems way too high and is also inconsistent. The whole "killing enemies who can dodge gunfire from any weapon in the game" point is a bit misleading. The enemies do not actually dodge the bullets, they simply duck under them and stay ducked if you keep firing, not moving at all during this. The fact that they can "dodge" a flamethrower shows well that they're only ducking under it and it doesn't warrant supersonic+.

The only other feat for this rating seems to be Corey and The Son rolling under bullets, which follows a similar logic but also as the anti feat of these abilities leaving them extremely open to attack afterwards and will almost always get them shot if the enemy is using anything automatic or even semi automatic. It's also the exact same speed as their movement speed, which kinda screws with the logic.

To me most of the characters top out at peak human or in some cases subsonic due to how evading bullets at all works, but Corey and The Son might have a rating be higher.

Other Stuff
For some reason the verse page doesn't have a supporters list. Not sure why.
The power of the verse section seems to imply a possible soviet union profile and I find this funny. Nothing really objectionable even.
Characters scale to people who don't have profiles. That's not neat.

Yeah, that's about it.

Jake: Seems fine

Pig Butcher: I suppose we'd consult precedent on this, but given our reality equalization things, I guess.

Tony: Seems fine

Miami Mutilator: It's fine because I made it

Son: Seems fine

Jacket: HLM1 is actually pretty easy, you can use brandon and kill dudes before they notice you most of the time. HLM2 and especially hard mode are a lot less lenient on this, but Jacket's involvement in that game gameplay wise is technically only through the level editor which we can't count. Too bad, since there are some really cool campaigns there. It would be really weird for him to not be comparable to Beard since the four of them were all on that unit for the same reason of being way beyond the capabilities of normal soldiers, and he'd be encountering the exact same types of enemies. Don't think all the dodgers would specifically end up fighting that one guy.

Speed: The dodgers also do this in the middle of open fields, where nothing would stop you from just tilting your aim downwards a bit, and are able to do this in response to the sniper shots too and shit. I think the real issue is that the speed is too high either way. I've done some calcs pretty close to guns and gotten subsonic for bullet dodging, someone calced someone dodging a literal minigun at subsonic because that someone was assumed to cut it as close as possible. I'd go with "At least Subsonic" for Jacket, Corey, Son, and whoever has to deal with dodgers.

Other stuff: Who scales to nonexistent people?

United Soviet Socialist Republics (Hotline Miami) profile when

Wok's judgment makes sense. Although the speed bit might need more discussion. Waiting to see Torli's response.

Jacket: Funny story, I tried replaying the game to get footage of this, but I only got that single gif because the game is much easier than I remember. His speed should definitely be listed as higher with Graham and Brandon.

Speed: It really just depends on how much of this you can classify as gameplay mechanics. Nobody being able to aim down could be something along the lines of incapable of seeing things 20 feet away from them or Beard being unable to pick up ammo not from a crate. Even then, subsonic still seems pretty reasonable.

Other Stuff: Jacket scales to Beard, who lacks a profile. Adding on to that, the Biker does not scale to Jacket for some reason, despite them fighting.

Maybe we need a rewrite of the verse power description

Whatever Wok and Ogbun have accepted seems fine to apply.

Basically everything except the speed then. Maybe need a bit more discussion on deleting the pig butcher though.
I’ll make the edits tomorrow

The speed also needs to be downgraded from supersonic+ to at least subsonic from the looks of it.

Wok and Ogbun seemed to be in agreement of its deletion so it is probably fine.

Made all the edits proposed. The only thing left would be do delete pig butcher and maybe make a profile for Beard and Corey.

I deleted Pig Butcher. Since there is nothing else to do here, I will lock this thread.
