Freedom seems to be resistant to Homelander's heat vision, so our "hero" probably would go melee like it was said above

Besides that, the statue seems to have minimal experience using the sword, considering that in character Homelander wouldn't think that the sword can kill him i suppossing there is around 85% of someone getting sliced
