I feel like confiscation should keep its powernull. What benefit does it gain from being categorised as sealing instead?

He did. He didn't know about it until Sukuna vs Gojo fight started he copied it once he saw Sukuna using it against Gojo.
He learnt how to use DA after watching them, sure, but he isn't copying their move. Since DA is something that anyone can theoretically learn, this is more of an Accelerated Development kind of thing

Kusakabe has SD. He himself states he can't do that despite having knowledge and learnt SD from a long time. DA is just advanced form of SD. Still Higuruma watched them and learned the technique. Mahito teaming up with Jogo and Hanami doesn't have DA. So it's obviously not a cheap trick which anyone call pull it off. Anyway it still falls under technique Mimicry for watching it and copying it.

Yeah exactly.

If he was copying someone else's CT (like yuta) or replicating other peoples move with their own kit (like sukuna) then it would be technique mimicry.

When I say that 'anyone can learn DA' I don't mean that literally anyone can learn it, but it's a technique that can be learnt rather than things like CTs that are innate. DA is a learnable technique like RCT or veils, and even though it's a pretty high level technique, it is theoretically learnable by anyone.

The thing is not anyone can learn DA. Kusakabe clearly mentioned that it's not something you can pull it off just like that. Anyway it still falls under Technique Mimicry for looking at it once and copying it.

Also Yuta's technique Power mimicry not Technique mimicry. Oh let's not forgot Higuruma even replicated Sukuna's Technique of keeping his Sword and DA active while not cancelling the sword out.

Confiscation being able to apply to Cursed Tools and make them disappear falls in line with the first type of Sealing outlined on the ability page and it prevents people from activating their CT or using CE in other cases rather than nullifying the effects of their technique which also falls in line with the second type of Sealing
