Freezing a Desert

So...How would I go about calcing someone freezing over an entire hot desert 'instantly', to the point where it looks like a land of ice?

The verse in question is a novel series.

I guess we could take the largest desert and the smallest desert on earth as a reference assuming it takes place on a world similar to ours.

Also, my bad. It wasn't the entire desert it was just a very large portion of it this is the context behind the entire feat.

"The monster was seeking to dig into the sand with both hands, yet, it stiffened upon seeing the ground. The reason for this was because the land that should have contained heat, due to the current location being a desert, was now, for some reason, adrift with cool air. The ground had been converted to ice.

Hiiro: ÒÇîLike I'd let you escape.(32)ÒÇì

As Camus was also surprised, he turned towards Hiiro. As he did so, he saw Hiiro crouched down, writing something onto the ground.

ÒÇîFrost ConversionÒÇì | 『µ░ÀþÁÉÕîû』

This was the result of using a Three-Word spell for the first time. The result was being able to transform the surface of the nearby desert into a land of ice within an instant. It's effective range seemed to be tremendous. From what one could see, even the place where the 『Ashura Tribe』 were fighting further away seemed to have frozen over.

Although it seemed that everyone was puzzled by the abrupt change in the situation, the one who was actually the most bewildered was Hiiro.

Hiiro: (......to think that it possessed this amount of effective range. This is certainly a big surprise.)

As expected, the effect did not encompass the entire desert. Even so, compared to the one-word spell's range of four tatami mats, the effective range was quite frightening. Although he had maintained his poker face, the fact that his mind was racing(33) remained Hiiro's secret."

The largest desert is just plain unaplicable as an assuption unless backed up by info.

The smallest ones are so small that you can see where they end.

If the desert goes up to the horizon, that might help.

If you know how far the Ashura tribe is, then you could use that as a possible distance.

As far as the eye can see seems like a measurably quantity if you know the desert's elevation. That could potentially given another dimension for the area.

Chapter 92 before the battle:

"The monster of the desert has the ability to call other monsters out, and if it ends up being used and other monsters come, the Ashura on the outside will take care of them. You got that?" (Hiiro)

Chapter 95 during the battle:

Upon confirming thus, there were people that could be seen attacking the monsters in the distance…...they were the |Ashura Tribe|. This situation was one that the group had more or less expected. As such, it was unlikely that the surrounding monster's reinforcements that headed in this direction would not be capable of approaching Hiiro's location.

We're never exactly told how far away the Ashura Tribe were from the boss monster.

There's another feat for top tiers which I got as Small Town level+ (Low End), Mountain level (High End); So even though most of the verse hasn't done anything outside of tier 9, for this feat something much higher wouldn't be an outlier.

That feat is two top tier characters destroying a 30km bridge.
