Bringing this thread back.

Here's the calc. Idk why the idea is that God or in other verses someone flooded the Earth with the oceans vaporized. From what I read God tells Noah he would do it with rain clouds and that's what Kepekley did in their calc. DT makes a great point that we should just treat it as magical ever raining clouds not water extracted from all the oceans. While it is also described as coming from the "great deep" or the "watery depths", he doesn't need to cover the entire world as most is already covered in ocean.

So instead, I propose using surface area of the land masses and then the height 8.8848km+6.858m = 8.891658km. That's just mountain Everest + the 15 cubits God said (6.858m).

Land mass excluding the oceans, is 148,940,000km2
  • Water volume = 148,940,000km2*8.891658 = 1324323542.52km^3 or 1.32432354252e18m^3
  • Water density = 1025kg/m^3 (For an average value between seawater and freshwater)
  • Mass of water = 1.357431631083e21kg
  • q1 = (1.357431631083e21kg)(84)(4186) = 4.7730554e+26 joules
  • q2 = (1.357431631083e21kg)*(2264760) = 3.0742569e+27 joules
  • Total = 3.55156244e27 joules
  • 2500.8 - 2.36*16 + 0.0016(16)^2 - 0.00006(16)^3 = 2463.20384j/g, or 2463203.84 joules per kilogram.
  • q3 = (1.357431631083e21kg)*(2463203.84) = 3.3436308e+27 joules
  • Total flood energy = 3.3436308e+27 + 3.55156244e27 = 6.89519324e27 joules or 1.64 Exatons.

So (I'm a Christian but) I do kinda despise making flood earth feats akin to biblical flooding, i think they should all be covered with their own basis

But that logic is based on the fact that the water flooded the earth to the height of the mountains, so the ocean's levels increased even more or you would have a lopsided flood

so yeah
