Epic Literature General Discussion Thread

Doesn't that still require reading the book to verify it?
Yes. But if we were to specify the exact chapter, there is no need for them to read the whole book, just the specific scene where that feat occurred. Like this:

On Reinhard's page, they specify the specific chapter in which a certain ability or feat is shown. This is so that anyone verifying the stuff on his profile does not need to read an entire book just to confirm, they only need to know the exact showing.

Sorry, i just thought that the guy was proposing to put a image of the feats where they are like there is in other pages, i didn't realize he was trying to put the entire book there and make the person verifying read it all, you're right.

Don't worry, it was a small misunderstanding.

No dude, not the whole thing, that would be asking what are the sources for naruto, i mean where on the illiad does some of these are mentioned such as "Jumps the distance of a spear-throw with the speed of an eagle." or "Outran horses, dogs, a centaur, and darts when he was 12. Chased after Apollo with the speed of a racehorse" you know? i think it should be linked to actual statements of that instead of just the thing and "trust me dude"
Ik dude, I’m joking, just do this.

No.

Do you really expect people to read a whole book just to verify the feats? Hell no.

You just have to SS the specific text where the feat occurred and then note the exact chapter and page in the references section.
Don't you even know what Ctrl+F is? You just have to go to the PDF, press Ctrl+F, and paste the feat; then it redirects you to the chapter.

I meant to get the scans in the first place

EDIT: I cntrl+f'd around and found like, maybe two of them lol. The rest are harder to track down

Some of the feats are from The Achilleid, not the Illiad, oddly enough lol

I knew some of them were fake but i could not prove it, now it's proved, can you link both statements you found?

Okay, I was reading a bit of the Odyssey and remembered this discussion, so I looked at the different versions of the Iliad.

Before I say what I found, I'd like to share my opinion about the verse itself... Honestly, my opinion is that the verse should be removed because when using ancient texts, it depends a lot on the versions used by the page creator, which leads to these kinds of confusions. I think the best thing would be to nip the problem in the bud, but I want to hear more opinions before making a CRT.
  • Sound Manipulation (He let out three war cries that killed 12 Trojan soldiers)
FAKE, probably a mistake with the version the creator used 🤦‍♂ The closest thing I found was that in BOOK XXIII Achilles sacrifices 12 captive Trojans with fire.

  • Healing (Via spear and medical knowledge (Can remedy diseases with medical herbs)
FAKE, the one who used herbs to heal was Patroclus, Achilles is never seen using them and I don't even think it qualifies as healing since it's medicine from that era, and the thing about the healing spear is from mythology; it never appears in the Iliad.

  • Sleep Manipulation (Can induce sleep with medical herbs)
FAKE, first of all, Achilles doesn't use herbs in the Iliad, that's from mythology, and the "herbs that induce sleep" thing is from the Odyssey, not the Iliad lol.

  • Stealth Mastery (Walked across a frozen stream without breaking the ice. Stole from some centaurs right in front of them without being caught)
Fake, never mentioned in the Iliad

  • Invulnerability (Was stated to be completely invulnerable except for his left heel)
COMPLETELY FALSE, OH MY GOD. Not only that his invulnerability is not even mentioned in the Iliad, but in the Iliad itself Achilles is a MORTAL warrior, and the idea that he was invulnerable was only added by Roman poets CENTURIES LATER; it's MY-THO-LO-GY (AND MYTHOLOGY IS NOT ACCEPTED IN THIS WIKI)

And I think that explains my point as to why I want to annihilate verse; the rest is false or mythology except for some minimal feats like jump speed.
