Why isn't the 4-A Ghostly Wail treated as an outlier? The only time it shows such power is against Dan, the other times it just takes out a large group of ghost or fails to take out two much weaker ghosts (Vlad and the Sphinx)

I literally explained it in the upgrade thread.

They can clearly regulate the power of the Ghostly Wail. Dan literally sent Tanks and Helicopters flying yet when he shot it at Tucker and Sam, he just cracked the building so it would fall on them. Dan shock all of amity park when he first used but then he only put a fissure in the fenton house basement the second time. Dan can control how strong the wail is and so can Danny.

Also, the Ghosly Wails you mentioned are easily explained. Danny was already tired when he shot it against Vlad, he was tired from the possession attemps made on him by Vlad's clone of Danny as shown when Dani who was unstable easily K.Od him with a Ghost Ray. Not to mention he isn't even trying to kill Vlad and doesn't want to go overboard.

The Sphix can't be used as an argument because we don't even know how powerful it is. Plus Danny didn't even get that tired when he used it so he didn't put that much into it.

The same goes for the groups of ghosts he used it on in season 3. He didn't even revert back into his human form and he didn't even want to seriously hurt them because he literally needed them to turn the earth Intangible, he just wanted them to back off so it wasn't a full powered ghostly wail.

However when you look at the time he used it on Dan. It was the second time he ever used it, he really needed to stop him so there was no reason to hold back, and it literally used up all of his ghost energy and reverted him back to his human form which the other times it didn't. Hell he even legit badly injurs future versions of the ghosts who's he used it on in season 3. This is because he really wanted them to get away because they were legit trying to kill him and unlike their season 3 versions, Danny didn't need them.

They can control how much power they put into the Ghostly Wail just like they can control how much power their other moves have. This is why It says up to Multi-Solar System level with the Ghostly Wail on Danny's page because at it's maximum it is 4-A.
