A world existed. But we don't know if it was the universe since it was a world where the concepts of life and death didn't exist, those were created by the Soul King alongside the world of the living. Facts are that the world of the living (universe) and the afterlife (Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, Dangai, Hell, SK dimension, space, stars, moons, suns and galaxies in the afterlife) are made of two different type of matter; Kishi & Reishi. Soul King used Almighty to separates the two, so they cannot have physical contact. (Plus, all Kishi in the world of the living posses a small konpaku (Soul) that's made of reishi.

This is true, in order to fix a sword it needed the power of past manipulation and causality manipulation.

Why would Yhwach be effected by it at all? All Tsukishima did was use past manipulation to fix Ichigo's Bankai, what would Yhwach himself have to do with this?

He created a timeline in which the Bankai of Ichigo was not broken, that means a new timeline was created .. If in that timeline in which Tsukishima created the Bankai of Ichigo was not broken then what happened to the fight? That means he would change Yhwach's actions as well but it has not changed, so much so that Yhwach predicted that Ichigo had repaired his Bankai. You have other ways of thinking about it though.
