I believe some major Mortal Kombat revisions are currently being worked on. But he destroys the realms over time with an unspecified timeframe. And as for Shao Kahn gaining the power to merge realms; this is done via a power stored inside Blaze, but Blaze doesn't really use the reality warping powers sealed inside him. But maybe there might be more context once the original timeline revisions get tackled.
