So I've been wondering this for some time and want to see how others feel about it; how do people feel about getting speed off of characters from them creating visual sonic booms? Like how jets create sonic booms. And then if that should apply to basing calcs off it.

Case-by-case basis. Not all visuals of shockwaves or seemingly sonic booms are actually shockwaves/sonic booms nor are they always indicative of faster than sound movement.

When it's something from My Hero Academia, then it's highly likely that it is one, even then it's still being debated.

When it's something from a 10-A verse like typical manhwas (e.g. Weak Hero, where my profile picture comes from), they have visuals of shockwaves from their strikes all the time but all of them are athletic human, maybe peak human at best.

In short it has to be confirmed to be an actual shockwave/sonic boom first, then it's valid.
