So yeah, apparently the Balloon Fighter, the guy who is known for killing penguins and that's about it, is Massively Hypersonic+. Problem with that is, well... The cloud is a background element, which would make the bolt of lightning that spawns the star thing (whatever the hell that is) a background element as well. I don't think Balloon Fighter would react to what is shown to be a background element that spawns in a knowingly-slower threat: https://youtu.be/mtrW_WcO0_8?t=245
As for the star thing that actually proves to be a threat, well, I don't know what it is, but I don't think that thing really acts like a lightning bolt, like, at all. Not to mention that it takes just a good eye and the use of a Frame-by-Frame to tell that that star thing is significantly slower than the lightning bolt that spawns it. It took a lightning bolt 5 frames at 25 fps to achieve maximum size, yet it took 15 frames for the star thing to travel the same distance. If one were to actually conflate the star thing with lightning, the star thing would actually be moving at Mach 431, which is in the middle of regular Massively Hypersonic territory. Reviewing the video footage shows that the Balloon Fighter at best rivals the star thing that spawns from lightning bolts.
Even then, the star thing is more or less just a confusing game mechanic in a game where your main goal is to kill penguins on balloons and try not to become fish food.
So yeah, essentially looking at things more carefully would either lead to a nerf for the Balloon Fighter, or make one just wave it off as game mechanics.
