So I'm reading a novel and the GW that his lightning have is 557. Can we determine the AP for Gigawatts?

Not really, power outpit of lightnings vary from 12 to 24000 gigawatts, 557 gigawatts is under the espected results, so I'm guessing that it yield the same, dependnof the lowest and highest end of lightning energy that we got in the wiki.

He is looking for the energy output of a lightning of 557 gigawatts, you can't multiplied by 1 s, lightning doesn't last that long.

Like you used the MCB level there I assumed you did. Anyway, lightnings last at least 10 us, the the minimal energy released in the strike is 557*10^9*10*10^(-6) = 5570000 J = 1.3313 tnt kg (Wall level+)

A quick search in internet showed me that lightning discharges (the visible one) last from 10 us to 70 us; so I just needed to multiplied that per the power output in order to obtain energy.
