Goku scales to 2.964 KiloQuettatons while Pre Fourth Zenkai Vegeta scales to 3.704 KiloQuettatons to Toei First Form Frieza.

Doesn't Goku's skill advantage just let him take the dub here? His only real disadvantage is a very minor power difference and the fact that SSJ Grade 1 is draining on his stamina but he should just outclass Vegeta everywhere else.

Vegeta's certainly no slouch in combat and has fought Goku before. Goku shouldn't outskill too badly here

Learning Super Saiyan for the first time is heavily draining on the user's body even if they weren't fighting someone stronger than them, which Vegeta is, and this time he doesn't have Kaioken to save him from a pinch unless he wants to die instantly

Goku starts out weaker and drains energy passively. He might be more skilled than Vegeta but Vegeta is still a warrior with decades of combat experience under his belt who can take Goku on in near-equal battle. The worst he's ever done is underestimate an opponent but I don't see him doing that against a Super Saiyan.

Notably while Vegeta would naturally improve over time as a fighter he never undergoes formal training like Goku and yet can still match him in hand to hand combat at numerous parts of the series, which I feel further supports the idea of having a similar skill level even during the Freeza Saga.

In short I think the skill gap isn't as great as some might think and that Vegeta's combat experience makes up for it. And Goku starts out significantly weaker and will get exhausted faster due to Super Saiyan.
