Alakazam should get Transmutation

@Yobo I guess? How about these statements:

"Kirby can use all forms of transformation abilities."

"I can use all sorts of equipment."

"MotherBrain can use all forms of psychic abilities"

I'm trying to show that there is a difference here, and by using examples outside of Alakazam, I hope it clears any presumptions that could be why no one else sees the definition difference, or I could be a sucker for correct grammar, that's also a possibility.

...How does the portrayal of other abilities affect the abilities he doesn't have? Maybe you meant something in the vein of LordGriffin's statement?

I dunno, you said yourself a single word change could make a huge difference. Part of it is that (if we're really going to argue semantics like this), is that "all sorts" is considered a hyperbole and a figure of speech, while "all forms" isn't and isn't really a common phrase with a alternate possible meaning.

I meant it in the sense that many abilities in, say Goku's case, were hax is considered a special ability that's portrayed as very unique, as with Hit's time stop, where those distinctions aren't made for Psychich abilities in Pokémon, though I don't watch the anime. So it's possible there is one I missed.

Noted, hence why I made sure that the other 2 examples still used forms to show how it can have alternate meanings and be used commonly.

Manga only for the unique part, which by this argument would still make it plausible for any other version. ...You mean like how Sabrina is uniquely the only psychic human with transmutation in the anime? Though I think LordGriffin did point out something similar.

We do have Statements Types or Options to check their accuracy, I don't believe it would be a problem if we properly analyze them.

Insight is 20/20, I now believe that how we should have analyzed the statement feat.

In the context of the Pokedex statement for Alakazam, I believe it would be at least Option 2 since the data is archived by Pokemon scientists like Professor Oak.

I dunno, I still feel this is really just semantics. I can keep going but maybe we should really decide that first.

@Dragon u c

@Nedge ok, thanks for linking the page:

Well:

Pokedex being infalliable? I'll let you guys decide that one.

Conflicts? Can Alakazam learn all the psychic moves, much less all the abilities?

Context? Well the anime version of this exact pokedex entry states:

"Alakazam, the Psi Pokémon, and the evolved form of Kadabra. With the brain like a super computer, it possesses many different supernatural powers."

So I would argue that this clarification goes with what I'm saying.

@Yobo well if you think its semantics there are other ways to check, like what Nedge linked.

If that is the case, then:

Considering this is the Gen 4 dex entry, I'll be using Professor Rowan (The prof of that region) to determine how credible he is:

According to the game, he specializes in Pokemon evolution. Not psychic powers, or the psychic abilites outside of pokemon. Also gonna mention this again but the anime version of the dex entry is:

"Alakazam, the Psi Pokémon, and the evolved form of Kadabra. With the brain like a super computer, it possesses many different supernatural powers." <Clarification that goes against the current interpertation

And Alakazam can't even learn all the psychic moves, so for him to have all the abilities is a bit much.

Though I agree, I will note not even Arceus can learn all moves. That at least is probably game mechanics

Mew canonically can learn all moves except for the fact that it can't (moves that can't be learned through TM/Tutor and aren't part of its level up are off limits)

I mean, I don't think Alakazam has ever been mentioned to be capable of using every psychic move either in canon (espically when there are exclusive psychic moves like Psycho Boost), but regardless, I think the matter is settled.
