Additions to Versus Thread Rules

I still stand by the proposal I made above - as long as the match conditions are faithful to both characters and place them in situations where they can use their skill sets respectfully (be it fighting to the death, or gambling with Kaiji, or debating with Phoenix or Makoto Naegi) should be allowed and should be added.

I find it odd that making non-combat characters punch to the death is seen as more reasonable and less restrictive than letting gamblers gamble.

I suppose I can agree to that, though preferably a note should be added to the actual match section about what kind of match it was.

I believe it's customary to do that, Crab. At least in my experience, though I've always been on the wordy side of writing match details.

I know, but if it could be added to the rules guide itself it would be better imo.

I feel like some grammar could be cleaned up in those rules but again this feels like something 90% of people did anyways. As long as any old match can be made, albeit not added to profiles, then I'm perfectly happy.

I am the wrong person to ask about this and there are lots of staff members present, so I will unsubscribe to this thread. You can inform me later if you need my help.

Finally, he's gone, everybody run around with scissors pretending to do important stuff

From Mortizva's and other new points, I will try to improve a rule based on his proposal later tonight regarding nonbattle matches because I will be busy most of the day.

A try:

It is fine to make nonbattle verus threads; there, it's okay to give characters conditions that allow them to use their abilities properly, but not if they stop the others from being able to use theirs as well. Regarding the match addition, a note should always be added to the actual match section about what kind of match it was.

Any opinions?

bump

Since the second proposed rule was largely agreed with, I think this part can be added:

  • It is not fine to restrict abilities in a versus matchup, implicitly or expressly. Matches that are arranged this way should not be added to the character profiles, as they don't involve their full potential, and are only intended for casual entertainment. An exception would be if the restricted ability/technique has a separate tier from the main one. In this case, the match can be added. The match can also be added if Optional Equipments such as optional power-ups and items are restricted.

What would 'implicitly' imply?
There are some OP who make conditions that directly limits a character or characters; it is sometimes hard to see at first but usually those OPs stated that they made conditions to restrict a character's abilities in their thread; an example of the implicit case is a versus battle where a character can't use any of its deadly haxes.

That seems pretty explicit, directly restricting abilities.

I agree there. It just in some cases, many believe the case is implicit and it takes a while in some threads to convince them what is against the rule for abilities restriction. Besides, the implicit part help in matches where OP makes subtle rules; the point is not about nonbattle thread that you support, Moritza.

In any case, with the overall support for this proposed rule and the support Antvasima and Promestein, I added the rule.
