"No, I was cursed by all the Meta creatures, you know", "What the fudget, did you just say?", "yes, i did".

Edward is cursed to not die unless everything and everywhen died so the he can die.

Also

"Edward's original soul is not in this world, no, even further than the Metaplane, the only one who can go there is Edward himself"

So what immortality is this?

This seems like multiple immortalities, first we got type 8 since his immortality relies on everyone else being alive, and it seems like he would also get types 1 and 2 since it doesn’t say anything that would display other types. The second passage doesn’t really change anything since it never says that he can do anything with his soul like make/find a new body to put it in. (Though I guess it would change how he interacts with soul manipulation since it is not in his body, a character would have to somehow gain access to the place in the Metaplane his soul is in to soul manip it).

What if the soul is a key in immortality

Context:

"The soul is the essence of existence—the source of consciousness and true identity. It is not a part of the body, but rather the foundation behind all visible forms. As long as the soul remains intact, the physical body—no matter how many times it is destroyed—can always return in one form or another, for the body is merely an outer manifestation of something far more enduring. Yet the soul does not reside within the body like something trapped inside; instead, it exists in a place far beyond ordinary perception—a hidden realm beyond the limits of known reality. That place is not part of this world, but a distant and subtle center that holds the reflection of all existence. Our bodies are like shadows cast from that distant point, connected to it even though separated by layers of being."

IDK man, maybe that gives type 4 if they can resurrect with it.

Type 1 since the character is immortal as long as their soul exists, even if the body is destroyed. Possibly type 8

I don’t think type 8 would be possibly since it directly states that his immortality relies on something else.
