Not trying to instill a revision or anything here, just wanted to ask a question that could potentially result in such a thing, but...

Is there a reason why Modern Sonic has a Hyper Sonic key when, to my knowledge, the modern variation of Sonic has never really turned into this? If I'm remembering correctly only Classic Sonic has such an ability, as the wiki says it only appears in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Am I missing something, or should something be done about this? Discuss.
 
The events of S3&K still occurred in the main timeline so ‘Modern Sonic’ technically assumed the form in the past.
