8-C to High 8-C Tournament Round 2

To give everyone a idea of how far Rath scales above baseline:

The great jagras (who is Baseline) gets nearly stomped by anjanath who in turn gets tossed around by Rath. Make of that what you will.

The some advantages Rath seem to have here are:

Status Effect Inducement: Fireblight (which burns and does damage over time), Poison (damage over time), and Stunning via its roar (which is normally its opening move) and simply landing a hard enough hit. All three could happen at once in a worst case scenario.

Mobility advantage: flight and he can fly with broken wings as well although not as well as ge does normally.

Rage Power: Basically the same as Great Girros from the previous match. Doubles ap, dura, and speed. Also refills stamina

Aoe with explosive fireballs.

It’s early in the morning so I may have missed something.

Ciri's main gimmick is teleport spamming and swordplay, not sure if silver swords will work on Rathalos or not though given its use to slay monsters similar to Rathalos it might work. Skill wise Ciri has been taught pretty much since birth from Geralt who's feats of skill speak for themselves.

Hmmm damn

Well I guess eventually Rathalos overwhelms Ciri after a long drawn out fight atm I guess, its got much higher ap and can whittle her down with poison and burning. It won't be easy given Ciri's immense skill as a fighter and her prior experience in dealing with similar things. But those status effects and AOE and higher ap means the deck is stacked against her here

Ciri has some mobility, so if she manages to land and grab a few hits in, she could kill it after a long drawn fight but yeah, if it's first key Ciri then it should be the case, since Ciri in her full power would be a lot more problematic for Rathalos.

For reference, this is Ciri fighting a poisonous draconid:

Though Ciri was limiting use of her powers to avoid getting tracked. This is what she can do when she does teleport spam:

Ciri has Witcher training and education, and Witcher fight style against larger monsters is mainly about dodging their attacks. Furthermore, not only are there poisonous and fire-breathing draconids, but dragons are infamous for breathing fire and being poisonous in the Witcher world (some even have acid breath) so Ciri will be on guard. In fact, Witchers were used to hunt dragons to near-extinction, and Geralt has defeated a fire-breathing dragon without preparation and is noted to be superior to a mercenary group who specalizes in hunting dragons.

Does Rath have feats that allows him to hit a rapidly teleporting opponent?

Hmmmm that is a compelling argument ngl Rath can stun Ciri with a scream which is its opening move, but iirc the scream doesn't last a whole lot from what I've played of MH

Also rath has several physical attacks that involve sweeping its entire body around making it hard to get close without getting hit (which can also stun but lasts a little longer than his roar). The roar itself lasts enough for rath to land a quick attack like a fireball.

Also that poisonous draconiod seemed be to much smaller than Rathalos and mainly used melee. Rathalos covers a lot more range with his body alone.

Now that I think on it doesn't Ciri have thought based teleporting?
Yes, I don't like that word but - spammable

Although I wouldn't put her dragon fighting skills on par with the older CO. TThat's the older CO, they fought green and golden dragons that are the size of Rathalo, I'm not sure if Ciri can deal with that size until it ragdolls her.

I mean several monsters in Witcher have sweeping attacks; this is not a new concept. For example, this is a codex entry Ciri would've read:

Gwent_cardart_syndicate_arena_endrega.png

Scared of these endregas, are you? Just wait till you see the warriors.– Klaus Altman, forester
Endless waves of endrega workers are enough to overcome most attackers, but when confronting more dangerous foes, endrega colonies unleash their larger, stronger members – the so-called warriors. This caste lives only to fight, and gets ample opportunity to do so while defending the colony's borders or conquering new territory. An endrega warrior's main weapon is its long tail, which is tipped with a club-like growth and spiked with venomous quils. Powerful abdominal muscles allow it to swing this tail with enough force to kill most lesser opponents in one blow.Endrega warriors also use their mass and strength as a weapon by charging their opponents in an attempted to knock them over. As invertebrates with sectioned carapaces, endrega warriors do not bleed profusely, yet recoil in great pain when hit with a blade coated in insectoid oil.

Ciri doesn't need to be a genius to figure out that she should avoid the claws and tails of a dragon, or the sweeping attacks of a cyclops or fiend. Witchers can dodge attacks from dragons, and with Ciri's teleportation it would be child play.
Ciri will likely retreat at first to study the dragon and make a fight plan as well.

As for the roar, various monsters in Witcher have a stunning roar attack, such as alghouls, dragonids (including the basilisk Ciri killed, and a cockatrices even became known as "The Shrieker"), griffins, banshee, siren, and various vampires. The books mentioned that dragons have a loud roar, so Ciri should be expecting it, and teleport far away to safety to recover (that is, if she gets hit by the roar in the first place).

Ciri can just take potshots; standing at a distance, then teleport-slashing Rathalos wing or back, then teleporting far away to observe an opportunity to strike again.

Rathalos is very intelligent for a animal as well and after getting slashed a few times (keep in mind his dura advantage, he could definitely take a few hits) he would start to notice tge way and probably try to either predict her next attack or take notice of certain body parts she’s targeting and protect those parts or even use them to attack when he thinks she’s going to attack.

Not as large with the exception of dragons who didn't appear in Witcher 3, so Ciri would just expect a louder roar.
Rathalos' size would create plenty of blindspots and prevent it from reacting to teleport attacks to its wings while flying, and if it is grounded (which will probably happen when Ciri injuries it) then it would have no chance to catch up to Ciri.
Can't see how Rathalos woud tag Ciri if she is doing multiple teleports in a row. The dragons in the Witcher world are sentient-level intelligent (which is why Geralt avoids killing them if possible), but Witchers are still capable of slaying them.

Rathalos can actually fly with broken wings albeit not as well (No seriously monsters from the MH can fight with multiple broken body parts). Rathalos can use pretty much any part of its body as a weapon and is very agile in the air, he can turn, dodge, and reposition himself well so once he notices her attacking his wings he could easily just move reposition himself in air when he expects an attack in the hit her with a fire ball or tail swipe.

And Ciri can observe from a safe distance, and only teleport-attack when it is suitable.
If you think Rathalos can counter with a fireball or tail swipe, how slow do you think the teleportation is?

If Rathalos notices that she can spam Teleportation than it would just stay in the air and spam Ranged Attacks until she gets Exhausted, which is more of an Azure Rathalos Strategy but he isn't stupid so he'd eventually just try that.

Idk that's a hefty assumption to make considering that it has never encountered teleportation before so we can't say for sure whether it'd do that.

Right off the top of my head I can think of 3

Kaykyoin - he isn't too haxed yes you can't see his stand but all it does is shoot stuff and fly about with him.

Lupin 3rd - Probably needs like 30 mind or an hour of prep time to be effective though cause he'll be able to make bombs

Rem - Healing takes like a full minute to work with iirc

?????

What the ap on kakyion?

How does Rem’s sleep manipulation?

We should move this conversation to the registration thread
