  • Both sides have acess to an SSD with all Chess books ever written up until 2026
  • Rimuru and Vegapunk had prep time
  • They are playing at home in chess.com with a neutral arbiter beside each (for flavoring sake, Le Batteur is beside Rimuru and Le Juge is beside Vegapunk)
    • Their PC have 1Gbps ethernet connection and 64gb of RAM
    • They'll play a best of 3
    • In the first game, they'll both open with the Bongcloud
True Dragon and Leader of the Tempest Jura Nation:

I don't know much about Rimuru's feats when it comes to things like chess, but if Vegapunk has that much prep time, I can't really see him losing since his brain is essentially the internet running on a supercomputer

The thing about this type of match is quite simple:

Rimuru has basically a super-supercomputer as his second personality, so if the opponent doesn't use the prep time correctly to solve chess, they lose, and if they draw forever because both solved all the 10^120+ possible moves of the game, they incon.
I'd like to get Rimuru another W, but having incons with some of the most intelligent people this site has is also tremendously cool

By the way there's only so many moves for Chess. Vegapunk makes the best move every time. Rimuru makes the best move every time. There is a finite amount of shit here.

Chess has the possibility of draws, and unless one side accepts losing (which SBA guarantees won't happen per their IC behaviour), they could draw forever, yeah

Yeah Incon imo, Rimuru might be smarter than Vegapunk but chess only has so much of a ceiling to it that both will always be making the optimal plays 100% of the time, ntm personality wise there wouldn't be any kind of mind games since they're both literally nice

f*, another grace period starting before 24h have past, what a great day!

The dude doesn't have an explanation for his Extraordinary genius rating.... Great
What's stopping this from happening?
Weaknesses: Due to each satellite representing a specific personality trait, its possible for said trait to influence an individual's actions (for example, York's greed leading to her betraying the group)

Even a small mistake would result in Ciel taking the W

Not possible. Each personality is a separate physical clone. The one in this match is Stella’s original body, not one of his clones, which are manifestations of his different personality traits.

Alright then, thanks for noting.
Is there any other feat from him specifically usable in chess other than the stuff in his Info analysis rating?

Does Rimuru have any feat specifically in chess? If no this is still an incon, I don't care how big brained Ciel is.

Almost as if Chess is a horseshit way to try to make matches, huh?

if you think it through, matches involving "intelligence vs intelligence" or "intelligence vs prep" have potential of being interesting and less hyper-controversial than typical "AP vs hax", "layers vs hax", "hax vs hax"

Unless you're of the opinion that incon is a boring result or something alike

We're putting someone that can process infinite information (his Supergenius rating) against someone who can't (and also has no feats of solving chess)...

Ciel/Rapahael per the feats and statements mentioned in Rimuru's profile has calculative power surpassing Supercomputers (like Earth Simulator) and Quantum computers.

As for if someone says "have they canonically shown to play chess", no, but his Analyze and Assess + All of Creation will give them all the information they need after seeing the chessboard. Plus Ciel should already know of chess since Rimuru's past memories were of the modern era, so obv Satoru and thus Ciel would already know what chess is.

Compared to that, does Vegapunck even know of Chess? It would be far harder for him to just adapt given his feats aren't something that are much supportive of stuff like chess. Compared to that, Ciel only requires the enemy to make a single mistake to win.

kinda

Vegapunk can easily create technology who outperform his own verse by 500 years and our own IRL Supercomputers
Edit: as he's an adept of cyborgization, he can just make all vegapunks capable of solving chess by expanding his processing capabilities, instead of something illegal like a chess-inator

Most blatant incon in the history of incon matches
Honestly debating on asking armorchompy if he can make a staff thread further limiting non-combat threads to something the characters have shown.

So Rimuru has never shown to play Chess? Okay so he doesn't know how and makes rookie moves.

I'm of the opinion that a character needs to show to know how to do something for a match to be made on it.

Why would he when Ciel stops him? He canonically asks Ciel before doing anything. Ciel will just insta solve chess and guide him in everything

Rimuru is a character from an isekai anime who puts stuff like manga, ramen and modern housing in the nation he founded and rules over, and chess does exist in this world too
And RC vehicles would exist in Metal Gear all things considered since they came out in like, the 1960s-1970s IRL, unless ya prove chess exists in slimeverse, it don't.

@Nonynho Instead of chess for these matches, how about Go/Weiqi? It's far more complex and damn near impossible to get ties in that game
I don't know much about this one, shogi, etc, and because getting ties are also fun while making a debate way less sparky and that has me spending 3 days arguing why it is fair

Fair enough, though IG its hard to quanitfy when certain levels of intelligence would fail via Big Enough Number

Chess for example has the Shannon number of 10^120 possible game positions, while Go/Weiqi has 2.1 x 10^170 possible positions, and we can't exactly quantify at what point the intellect rating fails for each one. It's just an option if you don't want Incon for every match since Go/Weiqi can't end in a tie and it's a similarly/more complex option than Chess

i'll make note of it because indeed getting Rimuru another W would be nice too
