Not really, the Devil Ring just allows to open a door protected by the angels in SMT 1.
Similar how Masakado did in the door from Naraku in SMTIV.
In Law Path, you pretty much do the same, except it's called "Angel Ring", to open a door protected by the Demons.

Hiroko starts at Law, unlike Yuka(SMT1 Heroine) who is Neutral from start to beggining. since she is part of the Knight Templars, a radical Law association.

Maya is Persona 2:Eternal Punishment MC, yeah.
But, she is different since you can't name her. She still retains her basic components from Innocent Sin. Hell, Atlus wanted to let her speak instead of being a Silent MC.

I put Demi above Abel because he pretty much did the same without even being Full Demon. He also defeated Kagutsuchi, Beelzebub, the 4 archangels and Lucifer(in a "test"). Full Demon + Pierce should be stronger than Abel.
Sadly, Abel is shown to only be able to summon 2 demons at the time, even...
