I don't remember the exact reason, but I started out using quotes and hated it so much that I switched back to bolded/italicized text. Later, someone asked me why I did, and so I tried it again, and hated it so much that I switched back.

I think it was annoying to quote multiple people, and annoying to separate posts into individually quoted segments.

But there are benefits; at least users get the notification that their question has been answered instead of staff replying to a thread

I don't like the extra quote notifications. Like, just right now, I got 3 notifications for one thread because you made a post, then quoted one of my posts in two more posts. It really clogs things up.

If I used now the old classic, how many notifications you would get?

One.

I think if I summed up them, you would still get one notification, but you are right.
I don't know, I am more of person who loves modern Tech. And quote feature seems more modern than italic/Bold quote.

I preferred the in-built quote feature on the old forum. The issue is that this one doesn't have a source editor; I can't precisely control where the quote starts and ends, I have to do a lot of ******* around, so I'd rather just deal with ordinary text.

Are you sure? Since BB code is actually a source editor and I can control where the quote starts and end…?

You can type in source code, but the actual edit is a visual one.

I don't see quotes as
Code:
[quote="Dread"]Are you sure?[/quote]
, I see the actual box, which interferes with editing.
