They're images, of the man standing next to said tower, and then a clip of him charging through it, causing it to all completely fall apart, seemingly nothing is left behind.

Dynasty Warriors 9, the character I used in the screenshot and video is Lu Bu, I plan to make revisions to Lu Bu's profile someday.

Okay, my method does work. Which is extracting the models from the game and open them up in blender and have that tell me what the volume is. Which is a lot easier than spending over half a dozen scans measuring every single angel and bump from in game screenshots.
The results I'm getting are Small Building level, as expected. Though the wood type of the tower can raise or lower this result. However I wasn't really paying attention and I've just realized that Lu Bu may not have destroy the entire tower with his attack. As you can see from how it breaks, larges parts of the tower are still together.
He destroys the tower by attacking the base and the rest falls apart. Which means he only needs to destroy a small part of it, and not the whole thing. Taking that into account and you can see in the link above the results dropped. I'm not fully sure due to this being a game, and I'm certain the animation would look the same regardless.
