The formula is "4 * Yeild strength of steel * Plastic section modulus / Length of the bar"

The cross-section of the bar is a circle so its plastic section modulus formula is 4/3*r^3.

Generally, you only need to know the cross-sectional area for these kinds of feats, rather than the surface area of the whole thing.
