I personally wouldn't. Despite the similarities, I can't say there's enough to support the idea of it scaling off of TAS from a point. For me, this mostly has to do with how Carnage's origins and dynamic with Venom are portrayed in a very different way, as well as how they met to begin with. The flashback also showed us that Spider-Man appeared to have some kind of prior relation to SHIELD given the Helicarrier appears after Peter first beats Venom.

I'd say there's a few too many differences in priorly established moments in SU for us to assume that certain feats/events from TAS can be scaled to.

In Spider-Man Unlimited, Spidey says Eddie's been for the symbiote for so long it has messed up his mind a bit, explaining why the two are working together and why they're more symbiotes than humans. SHIELD being there isn't too weird considering they showed up a few times in Spider-Man TAS and worked alongside the web-crawler. It definitely seems like an alternate universe kind of deal.

This is late, but the reason I brought up SHIELD is that Spider-Man only starts working with Fury on good terms late in the show. The Symbiote stuff in the flashbacks precedes that. I do think there's a case that can be made for it being an alternate TAS, but I'm iffy on any cross-scaling.

There's also the question of how Venom and Carnage got back after being trapped in Dormammu's dimension. It's far from impossible for them to have escaped given the mystically elements shown in TAS.

Looking back on John Semper Jr.'s interview regarding TAS and Unlimited, he pretty much makes it clear how the SU writers had a very surface level understanding of TAS.

When writing Venom's character it was always hard to remember that he never spoke in the singular. He only spoke in the plural. The first thing I noticed in that flawed Spider-Man: Unlimited series that followed ours was they had Venom and Carnage in the first episode and were both speaking in the singular. That's how I knew right away that the writers of that short lived series hadn't done their homework. And let me state for the record that my series and that Unlimited series are not connected in any way, shape, or form. I had nothing to do with Spider-Man: Unlimited.

I'm pretty sure at this point, the only connections we can make are how both universes had similar Symbiote events take place, but aside from that are very different. Even just with Carnage, his motives and characterization seem way off.
