No, I'm not targeting S1 Mark's 7-A. But I am...

The Problem

So, the primary issue comes from scenes like this. Invincible is bloodlusted here, screaming that they're "all ******* dead", and both Tether Tyrant and Kursk get a taste of that... and are up seconds later. Other cases are with Titan fighting a casual Battle Beast, who does this to Mark. This makes like, a lot of people 7-A, because between Machine Head's Goons and Titan, a lot of people scale to them at 7-A, just watch further into that fight to see our current 8-Cs drawing blood and shit from those guys who have 7-A scaling literal minutes before.

Solutions

Option A: Scaling for everybody!

This is the option that makes basically everyone who is currently 8-C, 7-A, basically for that entire fight scene I posted scans of above. A lot of people tango with 7-As, and that's sort of a fact... but there's another option

Option B: Nobody scales.

This is the option that takes everyone scaling to Season 1 Mark currently, and throws it in the trash. Mark is a walking inconsistency generator, and people who are consistently tier 9 to low end tier 8 suddenly mutate into tier 7 if we don't treat him as an inconsistency. This of course, downgrades some people, but I'd say it's worth it to clean up the non-Viltrumites' scaling.
The Mauler Twins are currently scaling above Invincible for fighting him in the beginning of season 2... and because this would be scaling him to Mark, we need reinvented scaling for these two bozos. Which is sort of easy, as they're bulletproof and, since Mark is holding back enough to hurt them, they harm someone who harms them. Being bulletproof is important due to the simple fact that another 8-C, Titan, is not. This basically scales them a one-shot above the other 8-Cs.
Scales to the Mauler Twins.
Hm... someone's missing... oh yeah, Allen. Allen isn't affected by this. Cause he has literally nothing else other than boxing Mark.

The guy saying Red Rush should be downscaling from Omni-Man will NOT like this

I know this is an hypothetical, but someone making a Flaxan empire profile will surely scale their commander to S1 Mark. How'd you handle that ?

I'm gonna be FR, I don't remember if he properly fought Mark or not.

I like B over A, but I think a 'Potentially higher' would go a long way here

Also what about LS ? The same as the other 8-Cs ?

Man, the mid-tiers are so lame in the show

And like marks early feat looks like a clear case of cinematic timing, no reason to say the apparent speed between cuts is representative of the actual speed of the meteor, it would be far more legit to scale mark throwing the meteor after he stopped it.

Honestly we can scale the Mauler Twins to Immortal, they fight him in both Season 1 and Season 3

This isn't the thread to contest any rating of Mark himself.

Maulers need calcs for that anyways.
If it's about Mauler calcs you're going to be waiting for a while

They are holding back against them, the moment they go all out the Maulers get ragdolled. Also reminder that even the Lizard League had a lengthy fight with the OG Guardians but obviously don't actually scale to them

Mauler scaling during the season 2 fight is weird in general. Mark doesn't really seem to have much issue fighting the main universe Maulers at first, then eventually gets overwhelmed and beaten up by many alternate universe Maulers getting involved...then almost all Maulers present are obliterated by an explosion that was accepted as 8-C, with the only surviving Mauler being left heavily scarred by it, while Mark and even Angstrom (who was at the center of the explosion) both survive it without major issue.

I don't see why the Mauler Twins should be downgraded. The only real anti-feat is them getting negged by an explosion that somehow didn't vaporize Angstrom before his upgrades (making using the explosion as an anti-feat ambiguous anyways), but they're consistently displayed as being able to at least stagger guys like The Immortal, suggesting they are far above simply 8-C. The show is inconsistent, yes, but consistently enough the Maulers are displayed as on this level. You can just downscale them from Mark.

I dunno maybe tell Mark to not make half the verse 7-A with his tomfuckery. I'd personally let them remain scaling but Mark is so inconsistent that putting a black mark on his first key saying "DO NOT SCALE TO THIS GUY UNLESS THERE IS LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE" is legitimately warranted.

Alan, narratively, is fine scaling to Season 1 Mark anyway

I think the times where the twins are displayed as being blatantly extremely superhuman outweigh the times they are displayed as not. Just downscale them and take it on a case-by-case basis of evaluating the most consistent portrayal of each character instead of this strange generalized scaling.

Is that not like... most characters? Titan snaps a dude's neck with his thumb and his mess of scaling is why we're here to begin with. Hell, Robot's Robots fight them and they get tossed around(Though they can return the favor) or run like hell.

By extremely superhuman I meant like on the level of viltrumite or viltrumite equivalent characters. I don't remember the twins ever being portrayed as on the level of someone like Titan. I mean, even gang leaders like Liu can beat Mark's ass.

Characters gore equivalent characters all the time. Viltrumites during the purge ripped each other in half all the time while also simultaneously getting shat on. Differences are inconsistent even at that level. And Conquest is an unfair character to point to since he's considerably stronger than a full-blooded Viltrumite to begin with since he could easily no diff Mark who was at the time stronger than Anissa and Thula.

Uh so what can mauler twins be reliably scaled to? They do have a nasty anti feat of 30 Megawatt (by their own words) laser weapons being more than enough to kill them.

In Season 3 the Maulers fight Immortal on equal footing before neutralizing him with the Nerve gun.

Plus the Maulers beat on Season 2 Invincible who is stronger than Immortal, albeit it helps that they outnumbered him.

This sounds like the case of Superior Spider-Man.

We know that Mark holds back and that he could kill many of his opponents, but it’s also true that they manage to injure him, and that isn’t good for consistency. For relativity with a Viltrumite, I think a certain level of consistency is needed, considering that in the series even just one of them is seen as a threat to the entire Earth, , including Mark.

Immortal was absolutely dominating the Mauler he was fighting. iirc that one instance of a Mauler knocking him out has been dismissed as PIS. Hell, Darkwing II briefly overpowers one and he can't hold a candle to early S2 Mark

And that's a point made in the later half of the season after the fight in Thraxa, Mark is not that strong at the beginning

Don’t forget he tends to hold back as well

So were imagining Season 2 as being “Pre-Thraxa” and “Post-Thraxa”?

That’s a different thing but there is a town level calculation to be fair

Profiles are rated at the peak of their keys. Mark obviously is stronger by the end of Season 2 than at the start, we don't have to overbloat his profile with every single variation of his power

I see
Still we should probably specify it’s meant to be Post-Thraxa in the key itself if that’s the case so we don’t have anyone trying to scale early season 2 stuff to Viltrumites.

Trying to balance the Invincible's verse is like trying to purify the Ganges River with cheesecloth and a water filter.

At best, we can limit ourselves to "Varies and At Most."

Honestly my main issue with the feat would be that it was done in space and uses a KE calc, but I dunno If that like... counts.
Oh no, it definitely still counts, space actually makes KE an even better approximation since it removes other variables. But, uh... Well I do have problems with the way it was calculated in the first place, not sure if I should do a re-calc, or just open a CGD Thread

Seems like a discussion for a different thread, as this pertains to scaling and not the validity of the rating itself.

Probably ask Rusty then do a Recalc and then a CGD thread. 'Least that's how I'd do it.

But yeah a little derailing.
