It's just one of those days where i don't want [Light Yagami to] wake up
My wife told me she likes my "obsession" with getting Kira caught, and i'mma dedicate this one to her since she got me into Prison Break (though i couldn't bear season 2's BS and we dropped it shortly after it began lmfao)

Spoiler: tiny lore

The first retrial has just been over and the local news channel is already talking about it - Once again Lincoln Burrows is declared guilty of murdering the vice-president's brother.
While yet another thought about how unfair this is pass by Michael's mind and he changes to another TV channel, a bombastic turn of events takes over Michael's already worried mind:
Another reporting of those strange assassinations across the globe from this "Kira" guy and following that, a commercial saying they will release a mini-documentary speaking about Lincoln next month!
When the corrupt media was filled with Lincoln's false story and sensationalism locally it was a thing, but in a nation-wide TV channel? It is certain that Lincoln will have this "Kira" guy's attention, and Michael will not stand still while his brother is most likely killed.
Michael knows his idea to invading Fox River can wait a bit and some more court bullshit will happen, and since he can't risk getting caught - something very likely while attempting to impede a national TV channel to do anything - he will have to get this murderer, whoever he is.

• Michael starts at his house, in the US
• Michael has 30 days to uncover Kira's identity or else his brother dies (which he considers a supreme, ultimate defeat)
• Beginning-Of-The-Story Light is the one used here
  • Light already started the killing spree but this is happening before the Lind L. Taylor incident

If you don't know Michael Scofield

1. Consider him as intelligent as Light, "he's definetely borderline Extraordinary Genius" fits them both
2. He comprehended and defeated Poseidon/Ogygia, an intelligence network consisting of the most intelligent people in Earth
   1. Much like Light competing with L, that's why i thought of creating this match
3. With the evidence left behind by Light up until that point in the story, he definetely can figure out that he's a student and japanese, likely a genius one

Well, lemme start so at least something is said and my consciousness stays at peace:

Michael's feats are basically learning via analysis, he studies a lot and doesn't act at all until something's cooked up in his mind, which will get him to get the suspect number lower and lower very quickly, since at this point, Light's leaving A LOT of tracks to conclude Kira is

1. Japanese
2. A student
3. VERY smart

Which as the story reveals a tad bit later, he could make some alibis that worked very well against someone who seeks justice... Which is not the case for Michael, who cares only about his brother not dying...
He stealths better than that FBI agent, so him being able to tag Light and notice his suspicious behaviour, leading up to an investigation, and it is not farfetched to say that in some period during those 30 days, he'll end up in Light's room.
Michael is a VERY good engineer, so either

1. He notices the fake drawer bottom and the notebook doesn't burn, but Light doesn't remember s* and can't kill Lincoln or Michael, because even if he touches pieces he took from the notebook, he can't possibly know what happened to the notebook, now that he lost it (win via incap)
2. Michael doesn't notice the fake drawer bottom and the notebook burns, leaving Light with small pieces of paper that are unreasonable to assume will last long enough to be used against some random ass criminal from the US (win via incap)

Now, why isn't this a stomp...?

Michael's stealth is not perfect by any means, despite indeed being better than that FBI agent's, there's a non-zero chance Light notices him and starts a counter-investigation

Due to Michael becoming low-profile quite easily in this trip, it will definetely take some days for Light to discover he's Michael Burrows, due to lack of evidence and taking quite a bunch of time to be able to tag and track his hideout, which would be needed to be able to trace him back anywhere
And since Light is very possibly not the first person Michael will investigate in this 30 days, i firmly believe Michael gets to the 2 scenarios above like 2 or 3 days before Light can trace him to his name

I say 70% of the time Michael wins by making it impossible for Light to kill him and/or Lincoln

Does Scofield have the resources necessary to narrow down that Kira is Light specifically? As in, narrow down the region of Japan, that the activity is consistent with school schedule, that Light has access to police data, etc etc?

He researches SO obsessivelly that those patterns will show up to him
specially with Light later revealing to us in the manga that he was doing the kills that way on purpose so some detective would think of him as an amateur

Michael should quickly notice that few students could perform such a feat and Light becomes prime suspect VERY quickly too

Is there any way for Light to realize Captain Cold's tracking him? Like, if L never exposed himself to Light, Light wouldn't have known someone's onto him until L's team inspected his room.
