First time i'm suggesting a matchup here, so i'll do my best on presentation.

Alex, now close aide of the Tuaparang Emperor

vs

Kuja, Alexandria's greatest mage

Both in character, no particular knowledge of each other.

Alexandria's fleet is starting a battle with Tuaparang's dreadnougth airship. Kuja takes the lead and Alex is sent to intercept him.

Speed equalized, as standard.

Main games only, no spin-offs.

Alex is using his Arcanus persona, so has access to all the power he accumulated from the end of The Lost Age

Kuja has access to Trance and can power up from alexandria army's souls to reach his final form.

Initial read on my end:

Alex has the advantage on the first part of the fight, his has access to wider magic and is overall tougher but once Kuja uses Trance he might be on the backfoot and need to strategize more to find openings or running out the clock.
Kuja might have the upper hand in raw power once in Trance, but not enough to outright one shot Alex who then has much better healing abilities to turn it into a battle of attrition.
However it might be possible for Kuja to incapacitate him and force him to retreat, which would be a win for him even if not a kill.
Issue is, Alex has a couple of counter-haxes that could cut Kuja's momentum short. Break may dispell Trance (though I honestly doubt it, it doesn't work on Sveta's beastform for example) or any buff Kuja might use, and Seal would completely shut off his magic for about 30 seconds, time enough to land the finishing blow.

You know that Kuja is 3 tiers below him and that means Alex one shots with everything right?
As well as Alex being more haxed in general, Kuja has a barrier that reflects attacks, that is his only grace alongside BFR, which is something Alex also has


So Alex just one shots or hax him with ease
 
I misread the tiers, though he was just one below under Trance.

Though tbh I don't buy most golden sun scaling, and Alex's in particular is very reliant on speculation. So I imagined thing way closer. After all, Alex was frustrated being unable to unleash continental storms after getting the golden sun's power. So I doubt he actually has star busting abilities, making the fight much closer.
 
Aaaah okay. I tried in the past but to no avail, regarding one of isaac's speed feats.
Tbh I know my preferred scaling methods aren't ones most used here, but I don't have much places to discuss mus sooo...

I know it has nothing to do with versus but I have to express my happiness in seeing that there are people who have not forgotten about Golden Sun🥹, an extraordinary game saga for me and I hope that someone makes a profile for the Sage
am I the only one who would like the continuation of Golden sun the dark dawn?

Friend, I have several other matchups to post here just for that. Constantly looking for GS mus.
Sadly a lot of the time the difference in tiers here will just mean there is no debate to be had on how it'd go but at least it's there !

**** yeah Isaac in smash is overdue.

Who knows, maybe the Nintendo Cinematic Universe will have GS featured during the Fire Emblem movie when they try to open a portal to Grima's prison or something.
Or maybe they'll make Weyard be the Sacred Realm of the Zelda movie lol
