Invincible Season 4 General Discussion Thread

all that's left is the siege on Viltrum
the most visually intense things are the destruction of Viltrum WHICH IS IN THE TRAILER and they likely didn't go cheap on this, and Mark's nightmare where the viltrumites arrive on Earth and kill everyone, the show might extend this as in the comics it was only a few pages and they compressed EVERYTHING into those pages. the war ends when Thragg comes to Earth and offers a truce with the remaining Viltrumites living there in secret. This is most likely one of the final scenes. I trust both of these scenes will be done correctly with appropriate budget and animation

Well yeah cuz the core didn't stabilize. I'm asking about the fact he says they'd die if it did.
Couldn't this also mean heat as the core of a planet (atleast Earth's) 5400 Celsius with heat being something viltrumites are more vulnerable to?

The COP hq planet (forgot name) battle was really weird to look at.

The ship is beaming down on the ground and you can see the destruction from above, but on the ground level characters are fighting in a pristine condition city.

Also the whole thing makes both sides look pretty stupid.

COP - Why can one person turn off the entire grid ? Like no permissions, no biometric security locks, not even a multi stage verification system. Who made this shit ?

They don't have cruisers around the planet ready for battle either.

Viltrumites - Honestly if I hadn't read the comics, I would think Thragg is a joke of a villain. He went to the center of Coalition, but brings one cruiser which doesn't even have Weapons on par with a trash can like the Venture.

Could single handedly finish the fight, win and destroy all his enemies and...he ******* runs away.

No this not strategic or tactical. You had the element of surprise, the collation forces are thin here just kill everyone. Legit dumbass Villain.

I have nothing to back this up, but I've always felt that Thragg and Battle Beast were not written to be as strong as they were when they were introduced and written during the first half of the Viltrumite War. I think once the planet was destroyed, they had their narrative power level shifted to where it's at currently at. Since st that point Thragg was locked as endgame villain (with another character) and Battle Beast was upscaled to match.

Yeah especially since BB gets ***** slapped in the first encounter. Honestly the memes and aura aside (which he lost in the show anyway) Thragg really a nothing burger. And the show hasn't changed that, unlike Conquest who went from just a brutal Viltrumite enforcer to a rather demented pyscho. Thragg is pretty vanilla, with the plain moustache twirling villain dialogues.

Most "Pure evil Final Boss" that are enjoyable have certain characteristics that make them stand out, Take Frieza's devilish charm, Wesker's style, Joker's chaos, Homelander's....yeah lets be honest Anthony Starr is what makes Homelander good, his writing is all over the place. Point is, Thragg is meh.

I have seen replies to the inconsistencies saying, "No one is complaining but just the power scalers", "power scalers ruin the show".

They will eat shit and call it chocolate but never admit that this show has straight up a narrative inconsistency so bad that I wonder if the writers have Cognitive dissonance.

Mark, Immortal is below Omni-Man level...
Huh? They only hurt him in the beginning of Season 2, even before the time skip in Season 2, so he was way weaker than Omni-Man there, so the Twins still haven't hurt someone in Omni-Man's level at all

They made the stun gun that downed Mark and Immortal.

Heck why didn't Mark bring that up? Just have the Coalition use a bunch of stun guns to instantly paralyze the Viltrumites for long periods.

I mean Mark resisted it more than Immortal, who instantly got knocked out by it, so to me it seems like it wouldn't work at all with stronger Viltrumites, I don't remember correctly, didn't Oliver destroy it in the same episode before killing the Twins?

Viltrumites don't really have a specific weakness to heat in the same way they have a weakness to specific frequencies disrupting their equilibrium. I think their heat resistance feats are also much higher than the temp of Earth's core both in short bursts and over time.

Point is, Thragg is meh
He was kinda meh in the comics too, its just revenge and towards the end he's even more insane too when Nolan becomes Emperor and he gets exiled hope he'll improve in the show

Invincible is not a complex enough story to consider basic nuance like this, unfortunately

Yeah I was talking about his entire character. Comics and all.

I hope they improve him, but so far... Let's just see.

Well we do know he's gonna have a backstory, about next episode. The comics didn't have any of that. I'll take that as an improvement already.

"Damn, looked like a Lil fraudulent ***** last epsiode. Aura debt so high, I will repaying it for the rest of the season. Well better farm aura in every frame I am from now on."

- Grand Regent Thragg.

He looks a lot better here too. That was definitely a temporary issue (he looked.. normal? at times in ep 6 too)

Found this post. Kirkman seems to be heavily implying Battle Beast's series will end after Conquest shows up in this arc, which is a shame because they once implied they'll take more breaks to do more arcs and that while they had an ending planned, they could feel it far away

And not only that, but apparently Conquest will hold back with Battle Beast ? o_o

Fits the idea that Beast got stronger to fight Thragg later on tbh

Wonder if it would be worth to give him another key. Probably not since they would both just scale to stomping Mark, at most we'd have to change the wording of his current tier a bit imo

I am eating these up though

I was thinking, the whole 50 Viltrumites problem should not exist. Sure on a large continuous scale, re population would have led to a inbreeding problem.

Even if only a few of them were not related, like even say 5 couples. That's still 5 kids per year, over hundred of years.

Sure they won't be able to reproduce but it's still a army of pure Viltrumites to bolster their forces, who can later repopulate Viltrum faster once on Earth.

Also if you think about it, Sex God Kregg created a new Viltrumite lineage on Earth. Since Viltrumite dna is dominant and his kids will keep having relationships with human due to their long life spans, you basically have a every growing population on Earth now.

Actually 50 is a funny number, since that's the minimum of the 50|500 population rule. You need 50+ to prevent inbreeding depression and 500+ for long term stability. While the Viltrumites wouldn't do it due to their meme-tier stupid culture, a strictly Utilitarian society would be able to recover with those numbers.

That is not accounting for the fact that viltrumites are narcissistic, prideful, hypocrites and also don't even care about each other thanks to their own culture

Before the episode comes out, what are the chances that the high quality parts will be all trailer shots and the rest is like standard Invincible quality animation ? I would say 60-75%.

I think my favorite part so far is the splitting open with Thragg...

which did lead to this Aura debt but atleast the shot was nice.

A leak happened
Even as an animation defender of some kind, this hurts. Hope its unfinished, or that its the only part of the episode that looks this bad. Afterall it is a 40 second clip from an 50 minute episode, and at times even the Conquest fight in the S3 finale didn't look that good compared to the rest.

Haven't seen the leaks but what are talking about. Cour 1 Sakamoto days or straight up One Frame man level ?
