According to this, the thickness of a grate is 0.508 cm.
As in the original calculation, we will say that the grates are made of stainless steel (i.e., we will attribute 358j/cm³ to it)
Calculation
Given that Bonnie's width is 81.3 cm, this is the minimum width the duct should have for him to move through it without problems. Considering the grate as square and not rectangular, we'll say that its height is the same (81.3 cm) and its thickness, as previously stated, is 0.508 cm. 81.3 * 81.3 * 0.508 = 3357.72252 cm³. However, since it's a grate and not 100% covered, we'll be conservative and reduce that result by half (1678.86126 cm³). 1678.86126 * 358 = 601032.33108 joules, or wall level+
