The Revenant Marvel Comics Discussion Thread

So Wanda beats Oshtur on her own in the latest Sorcerer Supreme issue. What is it with writers and treating cosmic beings so horribly lately? The kind of shit that Wanda does at her peak is what any of the Vishanti should be able to do casually. Doesn’t help that she does it by shooting her with an explicitly galaxy level attack.

Edit: Oh brother give me a break. Yes, Strange in fact would have done that. The god damn glazing of Wanda in this book is nonstop.

Ultimates disappointed me but only because I wanted to see these storylines be given time to take place over several issues instead of being forced to all happen so quickly. I mean for god’s sake we have no idea what’s up with Asgard in this universe and if the current trend continues then it’s all gonna be resolved in the next issue.

God damn editorial is butchering every book so bad it’s no wonder that DC is destroying them in sales right now.

Not recently, but for some reason this reminded me I need to try reading those CrossGen comics since Battleworld established that universe exists within the Marvel Multiverse. I doubt it'll lead to anything major, but honestly I just wanna see if there's anything that can justify giving those characters profiles now that the connection is established.

Well, Thor is continuously disappointing in how he keeps thinking with what is between his legs instead of his brain regarding Amora by giving her free pass after free pass, and sometimes having lots of sex with her, just because she is so physically beautiful, even though she is really evil and genuinely extremely dangerous via her sheer versatility combined with her cunning.

He should have stuck with Sif or She-Hulk or Jane Foster instead. It is a Betty or Veronica situation amplified over a millionfold in severity. 🙏

If she gains the raw power of the Odinforce + several Elder gods combined with her immense versatility in enchantment magic, and then escalates to draining cosmic entities after that, possibly yes, as she would turn virtually unstoppable. It would also underline just how badly Thor has screwed up for a very long time by not taking her seriously as a massive threat to innocent people, just because he finds her extremely attractive.

Just look at the original New Mutants and X-Men in Asgard story during the late 1980s for example. Amora did some extremely dark and gleefully sadistic extensive torture with her magic back then, but she keeps wrapping Thor around her little finger afterwards anyway. 🙏

Bruce Banner is being very unlikeable and irresponsible there, yes, but at least the Infernal Hulk only fought against some kind of angel, not against the real One Above All, so the writer and his editors are not completely out of their minds. 🙏

You know I’ve always wished that part of the negative view that people have about the X-Men is self inflicted was something that was acknowledged. Every other superhero team was extremely public when they began and made sure to lean into the celebrity aspect except the X-Men which made them stand out in a bad way even more.

The Fantastic Four live in a public building, the Avengers do press conferences, but the X-Men started out extremely secretive and reclusive. Xavier had no idea how important PR was and because of that the world’s first major experience with Mutants wasn’t about these heroes who save lives but it was Magneto threatening to kill a bunch of people while claiming Mutants to be the superior race. That one F4 page where Reed talks about how he embraced the celebrity aspect because that would make people see them in a better light instead of seeing them as freaks is a perfect example of this. Xavier didn’t think to do the same thing and in fact kept his own status as a Mutant a secret and it forever stained Mutants as a whole as being these weird and secretive people with powers that frighten the world.

That’s more so Xavier’s fault then the x men’s fault, they were just teenagers doing what they were told, whereas Xavier was being xavier
 
Okay. That is good then.

For the record, I think that Murewa's writing quality in the current series has massively improved, as Storm is now written as far more likeable, and far less as an excuse to hollowly power-trip and bash Thor, than previously. 🙏

I'm happy none of us overreacted about this like Reddit did when they saw Hulk fighting TOAA's servant and those faked pages
 
Yes, and maybe Murewa saw that old very out of character page with Thor defeating Storm by kissing her (and Storm greatly enjoying it) in the Christ Claremont-written awful old "Contest of Champions" series, and was angered by it, which would explain the Thor-bashing.

As far as I am aware, when written in-character, Thor would never ever be sexually forward to women without their full preceding consent. 🙏

Well, given how the Marvel Comics staff has ridiculously overpowered other characters, particularly Storm and Scarlet Witch, lately, I used to think that they might actually be sufficiently out of their minds to let Hulk beat up TOAA, but am glad that they are not. 🙏

That appears to be Eldest-Hulk's goal but I think Banner will intervene. The Hulk War arc that will follow issue 10 of Infernal Hulk will have Eldest and her army fight against the Avengers according to its reveal
 
I thought that Eldest is a he not a she? 🙏

The WHAT in London? Oh my lord does Orlando actually think there’s multiple Sanctums like in the MCU? For a while I thought that having him write Wanda as thinking she deserves the title because of the Eye and Cloak was a writing choice but he might genuinely just not know Dr. Strange lore. Would certainly explain how he thought Wanda could casually defeat Oshtur in the last issue.

Edit: Also just noticed that it says “Quantum Realm” which is also an MCU thing because it’s the name they use for the Microverse.

Oh no, that day I’ve feared has started to come, movies are more popular then comics, now movie fans are becoming writers and making stuff based on how it works in the movies
